After 13 years of Daytona ownership, I was recently bitten by the Speedy Pro while on vacation. The biggest positive for the Omega over the Rolex (other than price)?

One word: LEGIBILITY.

The Daytona's highly polished hands and tachymeter bezel are terrible for low light situations they basically turn black and disappear without reorienting the viewing angle.

As this picture shows - I've always been a sucker for a balanced subdial layout. The Bucherer dates from about 1974 and I wore it from high school through college.

If you pop the back off of that Bucherer, don't be surprised if you see a Lemania movement as used in the Speedy Pros.

I'm a longtime Bucherer fan and the older models were known to have Lemania movements as well as Rolex. As a matter of fact, the Bucherer stores were worldwide and sold more Rolex watches than any other retailer.
