how does this k series daytona look?

I am planning on buying this and have studied the pictures, the seller seems like a real stand up guy so I feel comfortable with him. Just thought I would throw it out there to the pros and see if you guys pick up on anything I missed. Thanks for any help that anyone sends my way!

An easy thing to do is verify that the watch is in his possession - have him email you a photo with the correct date and time written on a sheet of paper next to the watch - also you will need pretty hi-res images beyond that to make any useful comments.

I was going to suggest something similar. The images look almost TOO GOOD. Some fraudsters like to take other people's images and claim them as their own, to hide the bogus details.

he appears to be a doctor and that all checked out with basic google searches. His name was also on the bank information he sent me for the wire transfer. He has 300 plus posts on another watch forum and seems like a straight shooter as far as returning emails etc.

Everything appears correct as best I can tell...Proper box and papers for K serial. Also please note if he has not had watch serviced it could cost an additional $550-$1,000. Watch is from mid 2001-mid 2002

Watch, box, papers, etc look OK. Since it's a K, I would factor in and additional $850+ for service into the cost of the watch. Daytona service tends to run a little higher than normal service.

great thanks everyone. I think I am doing ok. The watch was serviced 4 years and he has receipts which he is sending with the watch. I got the seller down to 8k which i think is very fair. I have not been able to find any other black faced daytonas for that price.

I wouldn't do a wire transfer because you have no recourse. Have you tried the Washington Street area in Boston, I know there are lots of grey market dealers over there.

Maybe its just me, but for 8k I would want to meet the guy in person and have the watch verified before I exchanged money.

Good luck, keep up the homework! The watch looks good, now work on the seller and make sure he is good.

i check the washington street (downtown crossing) jewlers district here in boston and I found one and the price was still very high. Citi bank insures money wires to other "approved" banks when done through them. His bank was on the list so I guess I'll see.

I am not sure what year they changed the clasp but I think they did a change a few years ago with more of a skeleton inner clasp.
