definition of BNIB?
Interestingly, I've noticed for-sale watches described as BNIB with qualifiers like "almost perfect". Or, "no scratches or dings". Also, BNIBs listed with the stickers removed. I've even seen BNIB with a notation that it was only worn several times. To me, BNIB means literally as received at the AD originally. Am I missing something? Everything else is some version of used.

I agree, I think BNIB means never worn or sized, if it's been worn a few times I believe like new is the right description.
Of course when you buy new at a store, odds are the watch has been tried on before, but inside the store. |

BNIB is virgin Rolex... Just like you would buy at AD, The closest one would be LNIB and from there down it is all subjective to the sellers appreciation..

Another question is between Mint versus Very Good/Excellent......are they synonymous?

Allegedly, but some sellers abuse this description.

You simply cannot put that much faith in what you read on the Internet... The only watch you can get BNIB is if you are the first buyer from an AD... anything else has already been purchased elsewhere and is being re-sold... Mint means "as minted", i. e., non-circulated, as in coins... good or excellent are a long way from mint...

LNIB-Like new in Box would better suit most descriptions of BNIB.
