Received a Rolex as a graduation gift

So I graduated with my BA this past Friday and as a gift, my grandpa gave me a Rolex It's 20-30 years old(he received it as a bonus for a good year selling cars at a Cadillac dealership), and from what I have been able to tell, it looks to be an Oyster Perpetual Date Just 16200

Looks pretty identical to this:

I have the original box and paper work, but I was hoping that maybe I could get some more info on the watch. Perhaps where to look to find a build date and even a possible value of it. I will post some pictures later on of the actual watch.

Thanks

Matt

Congratulations on your graduation & degree.
If you have the serial # & letter prefix, i.e. "F", "Y", etc. there's a chart here on
TRF that'll give you build date.
Your Rolex is invaluable, priceless....it was a gift from your grandfather.
Wear it proudly.

Matt
Post the numbers that are on the paperwork, as well as pics.
That will help in entertaining the posed questions.
My guess w/no pics $2500

Congrats on the watch and on graduating!! The watch will be an awesome reminder of your Grandfather for the rest of your life. I have my Grandpa's pocket watch chain (not lucky enough to get the watch). It is one of my most prized possessions. What a great graduation gift.

Please post some pics when you get a chance.

Yea guys it is an amazing gift. The plan was to leave it for me after he passed away, but my grandma convinced him that it would better to see me wear it and I couldn't agree more.

My degree is in middle school education and yes, I plan on wearing it for an interview:D

What a great gift. One of my favorite watches is an Aquadive that was given to me by my uncle who has now passed away. It's an automatic dive watch from the 60's or 70's and even though it's not one of my more "prestigious" watches, it always brings back fond memories when I throw it on the wrist.

Congratulations on the graduation and your first Rolex acquisition.

You asked what's the value. I can answer in one word "priceless" it was worn by your grandfather. It doesn't get any better than that!
