I get a kick out of looking at mine and I get a special kick from catching a glimpse of it when the sun catches it just right.

Can anyone tell me where the etched crown would be on a V series TT Datejust II with Ivory dial. I can't seem to find it anywhere....Maybe poor eyes or fake watch....lol.

Hope you don't mind, Jocke, but I've saved your image for admiration. That has gotta be the best shot, of the laser etch, that I've ever seen.

I found the best way is to have the face almost flat then with the 6 furthest away shine a mobile phone torch on the face.
The etched Rolex crown can be seen in all its glory.

Hello Jocke, to the novices among us (including me ) can you clarify that the S etched in the crown indicates "Service Replacement?" I will now have to check my 2005 explorer which prompts another question, SR dials and hands affects a watches value, is it the same with crystals? All the best "H"

I couldn't see it earlier (even with the OP's trick) but today I saw it in broad day light and now I can see it in almost any light. It's kinda cool so thank you for making a post so I can actually start looking for it.

Oh one trick I used is not to look at the watch head on since the 6 hour mark/lume will obscure the crown. Look at it from an angle and you will see the "smudge" next to the 6 hour mark and depending on your eyesight you can either see a "smudge" or a crown.

The S in the logo that indicates "Service Replacement" are no longer in production so those can be rare :)

Omg, thanks so much for sharing this! I've always struggled to see the etching on my watches, and the Polar Exp II most of all. It's always pissed me off to no end because, on that watch in particular, I've struggled to see it. And the irony is I bought it for its legibility. Hands down, it's the easiest watch to read, yet I could never find the damn crown. With your trick, it jumped right out lol. Thank you again.
