I've seen several 16520s that have had their porcelain dials swapped with a Luminova service dial.

I have the "Mark 6" dial that has started developing a nice level of patina on the sub dials. I took my watch to an Authorized Dealer (Wempe) in Stuttgart, and was told that there is some EU requirement that if the dial has tritium, I will be required to replace it when I send it in for the 5-year service.

Several Questions:

1) Is this true?
2) Does my watch have tritium?
3) Is this a requirement in the USA? (If not, I'll wait until I move back this summer and have the service done there.)

THANKS for any information anyone has.

I would not leave it to the RSC, either service or anything else. They change the dial, hands that they want. Takes Tritium with patina, so you get back servicing white dial ..... Will you do service, or anything else, go to private watchmaker. I think you will soon get advice from others, where you can go.

16520 Tritium ID?

I'm considering purchasing a white dial 16520, but there are some conflicting details about this watch I would like some guidance on.

-The watch appears to have a MK3 or MK4 dial (5 line), but it doesn't have an inverted 6. Is this correct for a Tritium dial?
-The watch has a "225" bezel. Could this bezel be correct for a 5-line dial?
-Triplock crown. Is this correct?
-I don't know the serial number of the case yet.

Am I looking at a franken-watch, or are these details consistent with being factory spec? Is there a way to identify whether the 225 bezel is aftermarket? Thanks in advance look forward to your comments.

different tritium dials for 16520

So, the MkIII and MkIV dials have similar production range? I guess I was under the impression the MkIV followed the MkIII dial.

So I've got a 16520 E series, MkIV dial 78360 brushed bracelet with 503 endlinks. Sound correct and right?
