Well, I did it.....

After 2 years of sitting on my tail being undecided about which watch to get, I finally pulled the trigger. I wired the money tonight to a seller here on TRF. If everything goes smooth it will be here on Wednesday.

There were too many choices....I had a midsize DJ 3 years ago and found it was a bit too small for my taste. I sold it and decided to buy a GMT/Sub/something similar. The 16610LV caught my eye, but was a bit out of my budget. Almost immediately after both my wife and I lost our jobs. There went the watch fund.

My mom died not too long ago and left me my dad's Rolex Daytona from the year I was born. It was a 1979 gold on a strap. During probate the watch was stolen. I was on a mission to find a Daytona and I was going to fund it by selling her estate jewelry.

In May of this year we have our first baby, Ethan. He has been my little life changer. Gone was the convertible Lexus and in comes the 4 door sedan. Still hunting for my Daytona I read something on here that inspired me. I decided to get a watch from the year of my sons birth. I then put 2 and 2 together and realized my sons birthstone was an Emerald. Guess what watch is coming in the mail?

Alex

Congratulations for that purchase and I hope to see some pictures soon! As for the engravings perhaps you'd like to make sure you will keep it before. If you're a notorious flipper that might not be the best idea.

Sorry to hear about your mum and a huge congrats on the new born.

Have a 4 months old, so know exactly what you are going through

IMO - engraving on the caseback is abit OTT for me. I personally think the name and date (if bought on the same date) on the warranty card would be enough.

I have bought my baby girl a birth year watch (both birth year "made" and "purchased"), pity the watch was not released until September of this year... But the warranty card has her full name on it ;chuckle:

Congrats in advance. The LV is a great piece.
