Icon7 My first Rolex, a white dial 116400!

Hello all, I recently acquired my first Rolex, well, really my first watch period. My lovely wife gifted it to me for Christmas, and I have a few questions...Can I take it in to the shower with me? Can I sleep with it on my wrist or should it be kept somewhere safe for the night? Should the crown on the crown be perfectly straight when its screwed down, mine doesn't seem to line up quite right? It is a V serial, that means it was produced in 2008, did my wife get ripped off because its not a "new" watch? My watch gains about 4 secs a day, is that normal?

Those, and many others, may have been questions I had, had I not been perusing this forum for two months getting schooled by the knowledgeable folks here. Well, as they say, pics or it didn't happen...oh, and padi56, thanks for helping me name my amazing watch, "The Pretender."

Yes, the watch was on my right wrist when those pics were taken, however, it has since migrated over to the left. And sorry about all the smudge marks and fingerprints. Happy New Year!

Welcome to TRF, Congrats.

Yes you can shower with it as it is waterproof up to 100 meters.

COSC certified means the movement is supposed to be within -4 to +6 seconds. Have you given it 40 turns, set it to a reliable time source, and averaged it over a course of at least 7 days?

The crown position as long as snug is correct. tthe fact that it does or does not face a certain way is just the way it is.

You can sleep, you can shower, you can swim, you can golf, you can .................................................. ..... These are Rolex watches and if you can do it the watch can take it. They are Rolex and they are built tough. I personally do not sleep with my Rolex or any other watch on.

Thanks! With all the increased chatter over the last couple days regarding the watch, I figured I better get my pics posted. And, for anyone considering a white dial 116400, I couldn't be happier with mine!

My fault, I wasn't paying close enough attention to your original post.

Great looking watch, Congrats.

Welcome to TRF, K.

Love your orange glass door stop/paper weight and the Milgauss.

It's on my short list!

Happy New Year.

Never occurred to me to get a white face watch until today when I walked into the store with my wife. She just assumed that I would want a white face. Now I'm thinking more and more about them. Yours looks great. Congrats on the new watch. The pics are sweet.

My son, a WIS in training, who loves the color orange is a perfect candidate for this model. He had better start saving his dollars and cents.

The hour markers glow blue, the hands green. And contrary to the experiences of some on TRF, I have no problem seeing the lume all the way through the night.
