Enjoying the hunt too much

Am I alone on this? So I made up my mind; I know which model I want, found some great examples for sale by trusted sellers and got the money on hand. BUT! I'm enjoying the hunt, you know, searching and reading about the watch. Looking what is available etc. All prior watch purchases have been made very abruptly, kind off impulsive. This time I am having trouble pulling the trigger because I don't want this feeling to go away, it's great! Kinda like the feeling of a third date when you are finishing dessert and deciding what the next move should be, to the bar for more drinks or else. Am I alone in this? Any of you have the same fetish?

Nope, I'm with you. Once the hunt is over, its time to hunt for the next one. This happens even if you were not planning for it, like me. Best advice is, put computer away, or else you'll be back here explaining to the wife what incoming means, yet again.

I'm right there with you on the hunt aspect of it because that's the thrill of it. I'm actually in Dallas this weekend and visited the Ben Bridge at Nothpark but couldn't pull the trigger on a sub no-date. I was laughing internally because the salesman was trying hard to provide reasons of getting the non-ceramic one now because it's discontinued....blah, blah whatever. I'm hooked my wife will tell you.

Not only is hunt fun, but you learn so much from the research.

Of course there's always the "next hunt".

I think it was late 80s early 90s when the back cover of Nat Geo mags were graced with the Exp II. -First time i saw one- I always liked it but went the more "conventional" way of a Sub on the sporting side. I am due for a "new to me" daily and I WILL (sometime soon) get one with a black dial and OD NATO band for daily use.
Trouble is that, as mentioned in the thread- for sure ill find another to research once the ExpII is in my possession.
Btw good to know I am not alone, is nice to have a support group! I can always show my wife that it's not only me....

I agree. I have been told that I like the thrill of the hunt (whether a watch, pen or any item) that I can get a great deal on. The best part, the research time spend is well worth it even if I end up not buying it as I become more educated.

I love the thrill of the chase, the anxiety build up from waiting for an incoming watch, and the feeling when I first get a brand new watch. And although I have my dream watch, I still feel the need to constantly search the internet for something new. I may end up being single forever with this mentality lol.

I have enjoyed the hunt this far and have definately done my share of killing. Just received my latest this morning and I am a little tired of hunting now. I am going to enjoy the spoils of my labor now.

That may be an issue too, the more I research/hunt the more I learn of others. Then the line-up of watches needed cue up, along with the justifications of why I must have them! Example: milgauss with green crystal, never before thought of it, until I saw a pic in this forum.

Definitely not alone. I am intentionally dragging my feet on my 1675 purchase so that I don't have to start on the next one.

I don't look at it as a hunt but a research project that once completed culminates in a purchase. Of course, the purchase has been made at the AD, so there's not really a hunt involved.

But, to take the hunt analogy further, once the prey is spotted and within range, one must take the quarry or the effort is for naught. You must have the trophy.

I'm right there with you on the hunt. Learning so much too from this forum. Reading forums in general about your hobbies and getting so much info is much of the fun as well. Then, when you make wise informed decision, there is definitely a sense of time well invested.

The hunt is the most exciting part!

I used to make quick decisions when buying a watch. I'd jump at the first good deal.
Now I really enjoy "the hunt". Reading about the watch, looking at 100's of pics, researching etc.
Take your time and enjoy. It's a great part of this hobby. There will always be good deals out there.

I love the hunt! It took 2 1/2 years to track down this museum grade 1937 telephone dial with original expansion bracelet for Nancy. I'd come across a few examples along the way, but none in this condition.
