Any one have doubts about buying a used Rolex from abroad?(16610lv)

Hi guys, i am thinking of driving to holland to pick up an 16610LV from the uk as a dealer I know out there is actually cheaper than what they are currently going for over here in the uk either on forums or dealers.. The LV has in the last 3 months really gone a bit crazy and I'd like to add one to my collection. Are any of you concerned when you buy watches that it didn't originate in your country or is it the old saying that it's the watch that counts? Funnily enough this dealer has 3 and one of the LVs is cheaper than the rest as its from the USA and European buyers don't like them supposedly! News to me.....anyways haven't posted for a while so happy new year to you all!

I would just have to know the seller (reputation) well. A (genuine) Rolex from the UK ticks just like a Rolex from Hong Kong.

I think he's quite reputable, has a big inventory and been around for years. In actual fact he tried to sell my dads Paul picot for him when my dad lived there 10 years ago!

That's the keenest price this side of the water for ME the moment...in actual fact I may buy two off of the guy....everyone in the uk is looking 4300-4500 so I may as well have a nice day trip while I'm at it....

Did pm Davidsw and he hasn't got any and I doubt the time I pay delivery etc he could beat this chaps price? Maybe there is?

Mate, I live in holland and know all of the grey dealers here..Jaap from precision watches is trustworthy, I bought an lv from him too. There are a few more greys with the 16610lv for sale..check out JK watches. He is also a great guy and trustworthy seller..both are fine and you don't need to worry!

Have a great visit and hope you get what you want..like I said, he has a great reputation here. Unless otherwise noted, his watches come from other European countrys other then holland. A holland delivered each fetches s higher premium here..
Just so you know...my lv came from Portugal, not that the watch is any different. Some like to have watches which orig come from their own country,..makes selling a bit easier..

That's good to know as I never knew that..Do you know where he sources his watches? as if he mainly gets watches from abroad I would have thought he isn't taking them in as part exchanges from customers in holland? Many thanks for your info..

I'm not exactly sure but mine came from Portugal...I didn't expect that when I went to pick it up. I hadn't considered this. The grey dealer I use here in Holland gets his watches from the Rolex AD here ...
Im Sure that precision watches also gets exchange watches from customers..
Which lv on the site are you looking to get...I will take a look..

Ff,
Before you leave for holland, make sure you arrange that Jaap let's you view all three lvs. This way you can have a choice. Grey dealers usually have only the one watch on the premises to avoid being ripped off. If you ask beforehand to see all three then I'm Sure he will do that for you . The first time I went to a grey dealer I expected to be able to see the whole inventory, but that's not how it works. They keep all the watches in a bank vault and retreve the one you want to buy only.

Yes, that's the one that looks like the nicest, Like I mentioned, ask if you can view all three. Bring
a loop or good reading glasses to inspect them..it could be that one of the others is just ad nice for a couple of hundred less..the 2006 model is up for a service or had it recently been to Rolex? You will need to consider that if you choose that one. Don't worry about authenticity, he is respected and does not fool around...

The 2006 is missing the green bezel although he has said he will replace and the 2010 is a USA import which is on reserve so it looks like the 2009 for me! Did you see the new LN sub with the green insert? How cool was that?

Luckily I do own a new 11610lv...in the last year I've been able to afford some nice watches for the first time in my life...my watches currently are 11610lv, ss yachtmaster and a white dial explorer 2 old model.. I've been itching for the old lv recently and it's led me to Jaap! Hopefully il speak to him again tomorrow and then arrange to go over there!
