Is it common to have hair lines on the Mother of Pearl dial?
Hello,
I am new here and I would like to get some advice. I just bought 2003 Ladies Datejust with white MOP dial from swiss-wrist.com. But it has four tiny hairlines coming out from the center. Is it common to have tiny short cracks like hairlines on the MOP dial? I asked for an replacement but they wrote me back and said... "Since it is a natural material, it will have slight cracks and an uneven surface in a few parts. If you want a dial with no cracks it will have to be a solid color." Please let me know what do you think. |

Not normal! I can personally attest that Rolex does not use defective MOP dials on any of their Black or White MOP dial timepieces. The Rolex MOP dials are brittle and can crack during a dial replacement. We would need pics of yours to let you know what's what...

Mr. Woodychan, I am sorry to inform you that your MOP dial is aftermarket. It appears to have been damaged during a dial replacement or work that was done to your timepiece. I would seek a refund. Goodluck and keep us posted.

it may have been caused by the force required to remove the hands at some stage. best of luck with your refund.

It's certainly cracked and looking at the hands, someone handled the hands and probably cracked it.
The dial looks fine otherwise.

Yikes ... that looks horrible indeed! Get your money back ASAP! I'd say they probably did not understand what you meant but looking at the pictures they should not give you much trouble if they are a serious business. I hope that is the case anyway...
