What is Rolex thinking? Easy, what every other for-profit company is thinking - to make a profit. They believe there is a market for their new products. It doesn't seem that their primary market is the stainles steel sport watch loving, forum surfing crowd.

Maybe they hired the design team from Hublot.

Perhaps Tudor has become their new "sports" line. You can't buy a Rolex sport model anymore.

Flagship or ''halo'' models seldom make a manufacture a great deal of money, but they do serve to up a brands equity. Dodge had the Viper, Acura the NSX, Mercedes the SLR... ect...

+1. Unfortunately the Rolex target market appears to be status symbol seekers that know very little about watches vs. true watch enthusiasts like the majority of TRF members here.

Awesome! 59 is the new 39 anyways right?! I am envious of 19-22 year olds who have these watches. Wish I had bought one when I was 21 or 22. Think of how inexpensive they were back then! I just don't think I would have appreciated them as much. My kids are 7, 5, and about to turn 3. Each one has a watch of mine which they'll receive after college. My lucky 7 yo daughter gets my 14060m... it will truly be vintage then! She'll know what the lug holes are for. ![]()

I am only 25years old, but i share your same comments:
1-Its nice idea to have a president bracelet on the ladies DJ: could be a marketing technique targeting those who cant afford a president, and yet want something more than a DJ or the jubilee. 2-The idea of skydweller is nice and unique for those who fly or dream of flying :P. But unfortunately the gold thing isn't for every one. 3-The Ruby thing and the Daydate with Ruby imo is to satisfy the Asian market, because they are the ones who mostly appreciate precious stones and looking for the extra bling thing. 4-114060 is the perfect modernized vintage submariner for the Genuine Rolex lovers. And i truly suspect that one of the Rolex guys is a TRF member who truly listens to what the TRF members desire. ![]() |

The more I look at the Rolex lineup, the more I realize that it is the tool watches which draw me to Rolex. However, I am looking more towards other brands for the higher price point watches.

The bling bling models are for rich mainland Chinese visiting any of the Hong Kong Rolex AD paying cash and how many of these watches without asking how much each. If you've recently been to HKG, you will understand what I mean. At least I left HKG and moved to Australia but don't like the GST and high prices even with strong AUD against EURO and USD. still pay the ransom extra
