Some members have multiple Rolex watches, others like me only have 3. Now that I have two Wolf watch winders I think I will keep all three in rotation. For those with multiple watches, how many do you actually keep on a regular rotation of wear...?

I have three and I rotate through them as the notion strikes me, but I don't see what having a watch winder has to do with anything. To each his own, but for my watches, a watch winder is completely useless.

If you're just talking Rolex, I have about a dozen.. But I also have Ulysse Nardin, Omega, Seiko, and a few others that find their way onto my wrist throughout the year...

I have no use for a winder...

I have a fairly extensive collection and wear my 1981 GMT about 99% of the time. Every now-and-then I'll break out the 1992 Daytona two-tone for a special occasion.

I wear them all, but if one goes a few months without wrist time I tend to get rid of it and generally replace it with something new that caught my eye.

I favor some more than others and always tend to wear my more recently acquired pieces more. I can't even remember the last time I wore my dj, but someday I will and I'll be happy it is there.

Often I usually pick a watch the fits with what I'm wearing, other times I'll pick the watch first and dress around it.

For me more than two is too many as I cant imagine not putting the Sub on every day.

I currently have 10 watches in my collection. My concept is simple; if a watch that is worn every day requires service every 5 years, then 10 watches worn in even rotation should last 50 years before needed service. I know there are probably many in disagreement with this concept but with today's modern oils etc. it makes perfect sense to me. Therefore, I would never put my watches on a winder because on a winder they are technically being used and would require service sooner.

Also, I like spending a few minutes winding, setting the date etc. on which ever watch I'm going to wear.

I try and rotate every day although clearly there are some favourites that get more wear than others.

The ones I struggle with are the ones without the quick date change since if I don't wear them on a reasonably regular basis, it then becomes more of a pain to bring them up to date. For example, my Red Sub and Tango Sub were worn just once last month as there was suddenly 14 days to catch up on so I just left them until time did all the work for me........

But that also allows me to catch up on some of the others in the collection. For example, I'm wearing an old Bulova Spaceview today which has been a little unloved of date

I currently have 4 watches, 2 are Rolex, and as I add to the collection I am now down to one week at a time on rotation. I like all my watches equally. I too don't believe in winders, I figure 3 minutes max to set is sufficient to let them run down and rest between use.

ive never used a winder, however,
the part im most concerned with wearing out are the gaskets and stem from opening and closing the crown (certainly the weakest area of a watch) to reset the time and wind the watch. before i had multiple watches, i wore only 1 for 20 years and the only time the crown was opened was at the end of every other month to adjust for the date. in this time the watch ran perfect it had two visits to RSC 1 for service early in its life and one for routine service about 14 years later.

i still don't use a winder but every time i open my crown to wind and set a watch, i think about these sensitive parts and cringe a little bit.

the 3 watches ive had for the last year, have had their crowns opened more times than the 1 watch i had for 20, its just not right.

ps if i had a watch with complications, a winder would be a must for me.
