Tudor Submariner Question?

I was looking at a Tudor sub. The serial number dates it to 1980, but the case back says MN 82. It is supposedly an issued sub. I know a lot of weird things have gone on with these subs as far as switching case backs and inscribing MN 82 on them to up value even if they were not issued. Any thoughts on this, is this common for there to be a two year gap from production to issued? It doesn't come with decommish papers.

Thanks for the help.

I guess the case could have been made in 1980 and then sat until it was married to the back in 1982....

We'll see what others have to say. Some of these Tudors are fakes beyond belief...

i would not pay a premium for it without paperwork. post a pic, but it sounds unlikely that it is what it appears to be. these are faked like crazy.

I agree with Harry.

Without paperwork it is to be viewed as a standard Tudor Sub.

no pics and no more discussion necessary, someone else took the bait. at the way higher price. so that one is sold. oh well, would have been a good one with paperwork! thanks for the advice!

why dont you just get a nice tudor sub and engrave "MN 74" on the cseback and save a ton of green? kidding, but likely this is what the highbidder just purchased.
