Whew!

I was doing something outside when I decided to put my DJ in my front shirt pocket.

I missed! (Gulp!)

It fell a good five feet to the concrete and put a dent in the upper left lug.

Everything else is fine.

No pics because it's so insignificant, unlike the spike in my blood pressure.

Rolex quality!

I felt so much better when I realized that hearing only a thud was a good thing.

Glad to hear it remained relatively unscathed.
Although it wouldn't be a proper TRF reply if I didn't say "pics or it didn't happen!"

You're right and I'll break out the camera after awhile and put one up.

One must honor tradition.

Good deal.

Glad to hear your DJ and your health are in normal working order.

Did you have to throw out your shorts?

Check the timing as the accuracy maybe off with the shock to the movement.

After reading the horror stories of drops on TRF, I must admit I baby my 14203 when in hand and off wrist... Over carpet. Bracelet wrapped around center of palm... Happy to hear the piece is okay!

OH NO! Can you do that wearing a Rolex??? It will probably wash out!

Othewise, I'm glad nothing else was hurt in the OP's accident.

Thanks for all the concern, guys. I really appreciate the support.

After my last post, I decided to go get something to eat and on my way I was thinking about the accident and I realized that my previous description didn't match the fall and impact that had occurred, so at the next stoplight, I took off my DJ and the damage was somewhat more than I'd initially realized.

Sadly, this is the first series of macro shots with my new 105mm lens that I bought in anticipation of setting up a little corner studio in my small, but dingy and cluttered apartment.

The underside edge got chewed up pretty badly, but I'm just thankful it was the underside and not the topside.

Oh, well. The watch is still quite a bit less beaten up than it's owner.

There is of course only one thing to do and that's to just suck it up until service time. It's just a little salt, that's all.

I'm glad you posted this - we now know the answer to one of life's nagging questions, "Is it safe to wear my Rolex while doing something outside?"

And for the Final Jeopardy question, "Alex, what is a Dremel, a fine grit wheel, and 100 Cape Cod cloths?"

Hope the time checks reveal nothing amiss inside.

Ouch!

You've probably done the shirt pocket maneuver countless times and the one time you may have been a bit distracted the wrath of the evil scratch demon comes to bite you in the proverbial.

Fingers crossed all the damage is external only and not bothersomely noticeable when the watch is on your wrist.

I must say though, your pragmatic approach to the situation is a lesson to us all.
