16610lv

Hi, just wanted some thoughts from you guys, I flipped my k series 16610 last month for a newer m series with the rolexrolex inner rehault. I live around the corner from a shop that deals in used rolex's where I did the deal. The shop owner caught my attention today and said he has a 2011 uk 16610lv coming in if I'm interested all paperwork and still under rolex warranty. he offered the money I payed back on my watch and to negotiate the difference. I do like the maxi dial but not that keen on the green bezel, but I could change that for a black one and keep the original green. I do not like the new subs because of size of the case and think that this is the last upgrade on a sub I can do. I've had four subs over the last twenty years and always been a fan of this model. What do you think, keep what I got or go green.

Similar to yourself I've been wearing one Submariner or another all my life too, 5513, 16800, 16610, 14060. Still have the old two liner and was lucky enough to stumble across a BNIB LV three months ago.

Always thought if I bought one of these job number one would be replacing the green bezel with a black one, but I found that touch of colour to be a welcome change after thirty plus years of black dial, black bezel Submariners.

I love the Maxi dial, thicker hour hand, and green bezel so much that the 14060 gets taken out once a month for a day or two only, just to keep the oils circulated. In fact out of my little gathering of five watches, Speedy, SMP 2254, 14060, 16610LV, and SS Daytona (black), only the Daytona can compete with th LV for wrist time.

Since I have'nt been able to warm up to the new Ceramic Submariners the 16610LV was a no brainer for me.

Thanks Mark for your comments, 80% of the watch's you have mentioned I have owned at one time, all with the common theme of a black bezel and I have always had a sub. I just know I cannot see in the future that I would ever go for the new submariner because my wrist is small and I prefer the contour of the 16610 case lugs as it meets the bracelet. I had some cash I put aside when I changed my watch a month ago and still have some left over. I am happy with what I have but know its the only upgrade I can make. The bezel insert change is an option. Anyway he hasn't got the watch in yet so some time to think it over.

Provided the LV is in good condition, I'd do that deal. The maxi dial and hands are a great addition and the green insert sets it apart from a 16610

He hasn't got it in yet, he had a 2010 lv in three months ago up for £4495 which I was thinking of getting but I passed on it and traded in my k series 16610 for a newer m series. It will be in the shop window next week but with the latest price hike it will be a few hundred pounds more on top I think.

Personally, even though I like the maxi dial, I wouldn't go as far as making the trade and swapping bezels, simply because it would incur extra cost just to have the maxi dial. That's just me, however. Good luck with whatever you choose

Something to keep in mind as you make your decision. The value on the LV keeps going up, so if you're considering one, I'd go for it now, otherwise if you decide later to get one, you'll be digging deeper into your pockets.

As an owner of a LV i would say go for the LV..! A great watch in my opinion and as stated before the LV has great presence wit the maxi dial compared to the standard sub dial. And the benefits of a streamlined case compared to the new ceramic models. No offence LN owners. And if you do decide it’s not for you and want to sell it, it should hold its money more than a standard Sub. Everyone to there own.!
