Thoughts on the new IWC Spitfire
Hi everyone...
I've been considering the new Spitfire from IWC, but haven't really seen one in the steel. What do you guys think? It's 43mm and supposedly has an Ardoise dial. Any thoughts would be much appreciated....am thinking of flipping one of my watches for this. Borrowed this pic from the net: |

I tried one on recently and the watch is a beauty. Has great presence and the dial is a work of art.
If you're looking for that style of watch, I would say it's a no brainer. |

Beautiful watch but it's big. I tried one on and was completely bummed by it's size compared to my 6.5" wrist. Remember, it's a chronograph so is taller... 15.5mm for this one. You have to try it on before considering.

I love the look of this watch, reminds me of the slate dial WG Daytona I've always wanted. There is a handful of IWC watches I have my on "considering buying list" and this is one of them. I need to see it in person though because I don't have big wrists so I don't know how it will wear on me.

It's a great watch Clarence, looks better in the steel than in pics. The size is similar to the Portuguese Auto and wears really comfortable. IMHO this is IWC best release this year. I just picked mine up last month and really loving it.

I tried one on at my local AD, it was flat out amazing. I have seen pics over on WUS and the owner put it on a black strap and it looked stunning, literally, I was speechless. It made the dial pop and it was one of the coolest looking watches I have ever seen.
The Daytona is a bore to me, nothing special at all. The IWC Spitfire is a special watch, go get one.

Can this watch be thrown on a NATO/ZULU or is it too beautiful / not rugged enough looking? It looks awesome on leather, just trying to see what other options are out there.

Thanks Steven! I'm seriously considering this watch...though the price is making me think very hard.

To be honest, I am considering selling my Daytona to get one of these...but then I am afraid of seller's remorse.

You can pick one up mint for $7,500 to $8,000, not a bad price. It has the new inhouse movement thus the higher price than the older Spitfire models

Have you looked at the new 3777 the newer model over the 3717. Those can be had for a great discount. AD around me is selling them for 5015, at least thats what they quoted me a week ago. They are beautiful check out the web for a picture, absolutely stunning.

If you can find the limited edition version made for the German National Football team, go for that. Sexy color combo

I don't get the IWC tribute watches... Why the heck would I want to buy a PILOTS watch dedicated to German Football or Muhammad Ali?! |
