Hello folks :)

First of all thanks and congratulations for getting together and making such a great forum, this seems to be one of the friendliest and most open to new members.

I'm new to the wonderful world of Rolex and am quite excited at the prospect of learning more about them, particularly vintage Subs, which are the watches I'm drawn to. I don't own a Rolex yet, but hope to be wearing a lovely non-date version soon.

Hi Ravi, and welcome to TRF!

As far as checking references, I would caution you to use good judgment when buying a pre-owned Rolex, even from someone here on TRF. There are many, many members here from whom I would have no qualms about buying a Rolex. The longer you hang out here the better you'll get to know your fellow members.

You should know that the minimum threshold for selling a Rolex on TRF is very low, requiring a seller be a member for only 15 days and have posted only 15 times. Obviously, just because someone is relatively new here doesn't mean he or she is anything less than completely honest but it does mean you exercise even more caution. There's always some risk involved in buying something from someone you don't know.

You can get a pretty good feel for a member by clicking on his name and going back over his or her posts.

In any case, welcome again to TRF and good luck in your quest!
