Any chance the Daytona will reduce in price?

I just took a look at watchnet and it seems like there are a ton (OK, maybe a dozen) of Daytona's over there for sale. A couple of dealers are also listing multiple Dayton's in their ads.

Does anyone think that the prices on these will come down or are the dealers/sellers "locked-in" to the 10-12k price?

No, frankly I don't think so.

If MORE SS Daytonas were manufactured, maybe, but nothing points to that going to happen.

only if there is a significant drop in demand, or if production increases.

So you think these dealers/sellers will sit on inventory just hoping someone will pick these up for the prices they are asking?

Yes. It seems to have worked for them so far.

The prices for Daytonas have been high, and escalating, for years. I would NOT hold my breath!

Personally i believe that the price of the daytona is not gonna drop. In my country it's even more expensive than in the US.

The only way they will come down is if no one purchases them at 40% above list.

Yes. Without a doubt.

I've been seeing this same discussion on Timezone. Prices will drop when the SS Daytona becomes easy to get at MSRP...which will be roughly...ummmm...never.

Sometimes there are seasonal ebbs and flows in prices. Maybe the bad economy in the US has to do with the number of people that are flipping their new purchases vs. holding on to the watch. Maybe the premium on the Daytona has attracted so many flippers that we'll start to see more and more "NIB" and "LNIB" Daytonas being advertised at grey market prices.

Regardless, it's a hard watch to get. I've spent nearly $80K with one of the ADs locally in the past 5 months...and while I get some very nice discounts and deals, and have built a great relationship with them, I've gotten exactly one SS Daytona. Which, by the way, I kept.

I do not think the price will ever come down as the model has been popular for 20+ years. Even if the price do come down, a lot of people will rush in to buy it and this makes it shortage again as supply is still low.

In a way you could say that the SS Daytona will celebrate its 20-year jubilee of popularity next year, in 2008, since the "Zenith" Daytona was introduced in 1988. That is where the craze started.

Before that, the Daytonas were not really big sellers! On the contrary, many AD would not discount any Rolex.....EXCEPT the Daytonas that were sold off with 20+ % discounts.

Reduce? Not very likely at all on the grey market. They rise with each day almost.
