Removing link on oyster bracelet

Hi guys,

Is there a set sequence in links removal on the oyster bracelet?

Just got my DJII recently and asked for 1 link to be removed, and noticed (after I walked out of the shop) that the link removed was from the 6o'clock side of the bracelet, instead of one from the 12 o'clock side.

Reason I asked is that the watch came with 7(or 8?) links on the 12 o'clock side, and 5(or 6?) links on the 6o'clock side. Now with 1 link removed from the 6o'clock side, it made the clasp (when closed) nearer to the 6 o'clock side, is this normal?

I'd have thought that removing 1 from the 12 o'clock side would make this abit more even?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

As you say, if it was longer on one side, you should've had one removed there.

You can take it back and tell them.

Don't forget to place "loctite" on the screw, if you decide to do it yourself.

I just had a link removed from my DSSD and they took it off the 12 side. But I also planned on opening up the glide clasp a couple notches so it looks balanced again. But as a rule with most of my watches the 12 side is either equal to the 6 if its an even number of links or if odd, it goes on the 12 side, but never more then one extra. I think 2 extra on the 12 side would make it ride uneven and cocked to the inside of my wrist.

The AD should have observed where the clasp was meeting the underside of your wrist before choosing the link to remove. Then a post adjustment fitment to confirm the work.

There is no single "right" answer - the objective is to get the head centered on the top and the clasp centered on the bottom of your wrist.

IMO removing the link from the six o'clock side is bestto start with as this helps to centre the clasp which in turns stops the head from moving away and down from its position.

The clasp after removal of the link is now not quite centre on the bottom of my wrist. The head is sitting quite still on top and wearing it like this doesn't really move the head a lot, apart from the clasp looking off-centre.

I'll go into rolex boutique tomorrow and see what they say.
