AP ROC brown dial...

Hi All

I am about to purchase my first AP!
I have been looking for 15300 and/or ROC for a while...
just got an offer today for the ROC Brown dial.. (quite a good one)
My top picks would be the panda or whiye dial but they are quite hard to find in my area..
Should I take this deal?
What do you think about this dial?

Thank you in advance for all inputs (and sorry for my poor english)
Moss

Don't settle with the 2nd best. Stay focus till you hunt down that Panda or white dial, and the ownership will be much sweeter! Good luck!

unless you know you can flip it and make money (because the deal is THAT good), i would hold out and get what you really want.

Trying purchasing from TRF sellers? If not, settle for the new ROC. I tried the 41mm ROC blue dial today and it was stunning. the bracelet wrapped around my hand like a glove and wore like a 42mm.

If you cant find it at a decent price, get the new 41mm 15400. Its the same price as the 39mm ROC. A completely new Royal Oak design and a beautiful clear case back.

Very nice indeed. I'm hoping to get a black 15400 (used ) in the coming months.

Hope this helps.

I think the brown copper dial of ROC is nice, I have seen it at A.D. and love it.

I'd say get it as it's a good deal, hunt the one you really want and then flip or add that one as a second one. You can't go wrong with AP whether it's your ultimate grail piece or not. You have to start somewhere!!!

Thank you all for the nice inputs
I'm after the 39mm TOC since my wrist is a bit small (6ish inch)

I have tried the 15300 and it was Amazing!! bit then the 15300 is even harder to find these day...

So I set my goal to the ROC instead and now I will hunt down the white/panda dial one :)

Hope I can start my "First AP" thread soon :D

This is an old ROC ref.25860ST. I believe this is a discolored dial. The original dial color should be black or blue judging from the color of the hands and hour markers. The bezel and watch case is polished and the corners are rather rounded. If the price is really attractive, you may consider buying it and send it to APSC for a makeover! I believe AP can refresh it to a brand new condition.

Wow!
Big thanks to you orangedial :)
The seller told me that it has never been polished...
You made it easy for me to pass on this one!

Good catch Wayne, the bezel screws also appear not very sunken indicating the bezel's been overly or aggressively polished. Looks like it'll need replacement at the next service.

x2 plus a new dial is definitely needed. APSC won't do any work on it unless you change the dial as it is extremely discolored. For a watch of such age that discoloration could've only been caused by water damage. There's no other way! Here's a pic showing normal age discoloration on a almost 38 year old AP. Look around the markers. I would buy that chrono only if the owner is selling it very cheap and there's room for a $3000 bill for service and dial replacement.

Get it. You can always get the dial of choice from AP.

That is a very nice combo I have never considered. I would like to see more use of the chocolate dials among both AP and Rolex.
