Both good suggestions, thank you but I'm not interested in subscribing and only need one song.

I tried Gnutella but it was loaded with viruses.

if you only need 1 song you can do this:

1) search for a good clean version of the song you want on YouTube
2) copy the complete URL and past it here: http://www.video2mp3.net/
3) download/save the file on your computer

Works great every time!

I managed to download the song but from there I screwed up.

Had to do a system restore to get back to normal.

Ah napster.....fond memories there. I think I had about 1000 songs all list now as apple makes it impossible to transfer that kind of content.

I'm not trying to avoid paying a dollar or three for a song but rather the task of downloading a program.

I tried with the link above and messed up big time.

Mon, itunes is a great option imho at downloading individual songs.

You do need the software, and an account though.

Download itunes

If I want it, of course I want it.

Question is if you can get it to me as a MP3 cause I need to burn it to CD?

I don't think you can do that with Itunes?

I can't see how you can screw things up so bad you have to do a system restore

The problem with a lot of free songs nowadays is that they come with a free computer virus. Save the hassle and get iTunes.

Last time I did a system restore was 2005.

^I agree about trying for free tunes being not worth the risk, when it's a cool $.99 for paid.

Amazon mp3. Easiest and fastest. It requires a completely innocuous 30 second download to manage the downloads, so to speak.

I've never done one on a mac, unless it has involved selling my old computer.

Yep, my last restore was definitely not on a Mac. It's not even fun to look back at that environment.
