I was at the Padres/Phillies game last night, and in about the 5th inning a guy sits next to me. He is about my age (33) and I immediately notice the amount of diamond and gold he is wearing. He had about 4 or 5 huge YG diamond rings and multiple gold bracelets on one wrist. On his other wrist he had what appeared to be a vintage YG DD President. The watch had diamonds on the bezel, diamonds on the dial, and diamonds on the bracelet. The weird thing about the watch was that it had lug holes. Did Rolex ever put lug holes on a DD? I didn't get the impression that his jewelry was fake, so I didn't think his DD was fake either until I saw the lug holes. Thoughts....

On a side note, I was wearing my vintage YG DD President, and I couldn't help but have a bad feeling about my piece. I know I shouldn't feel like this, but do I really want to be lumped in the same group with a guy like this? I mean, this guy was as obnoxious as them come. I was just waiting for him to see my watch and try to strike up a conversation about it. I was having thoughts of selling it and getting something more under the radar. Should I be feeling like this???

It certainly IS possible to go to far with the bling and sounds like that guy was well over the line combined with his overtly "obnoxious" behavior...not an attractive combination at all!

One wonders what they guy is overcompensating for...although we know what that usually is!

Suffice to say the guy was blinged out. Look at the watch in it's setting - first off it was dipped in a tank of diamonds and accompanied by a ring on each finger and bangles up and down the arm like a Beverly Hills divorcee.

While the DD is a commanding piece, I don't think it is inherently gaudy.

Anything can be made to look gaudy.

Having the same watch creates absolutely no reason to be lumped with him, our behavior defines us far more than our apparel

i feel where you are coming from. i know its not right to judge a book by its cover but lets be honest everyone does it.

you sound like the kind of guy that could fly under the radar so its doubtful that anyone would see your watch and think youre an idiot.

plus would you really want to sell such an awesome watch just cuz of that one idiot??

I don't recall ever seeing a DD with lug holes...and I vaguely remember reading about that at some point.

A quick Google search didn't show any DD's with lug holes. Hardly definitive though.

Wow, good find on that 1802. I have never seen one of those. I don't care for the look of the lug holes on the DD, but that smooth bezel looks nice. Does anyone have one of these? We're they making the 1803 at this time, or was this just the preceding model?
