JLC master calendar

Hello everyone, I have an opportunity to purchase a Brand new JLC master calendar for $8k USD online. Firstly, Is this a decent deal and secondly how does it look in person? It looks amazing in the pictures however, I have never seen one in the wild.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I was absolutely obsessed with the master calendar and had the cash ready to buy it.

Unfortunately, as much as I loved the watches (both the old and new master calendar) they were simply too small for my list (41mm is usually my lower limit)

8k is a decent deal on the brand new model. If its the older one with the power reserve, you can definitely find it for lower.

the JLC Master Calendar is IMHO thier nicest pieces,it is now discontinued, however it is a very well made piece. $8000 is a ok price. is it on bracelet or strap? Does it have power reserve and moonphase?

Thanks for the advice. I really want to pick it up but hesitant dropping $8k without even trying it on. However, from what I have read everyone claims it's a great watch.

it is a great watch, but you should try it, or one like it, on if possible. Does the person your buying it from offer a return policy? or is it a forum person? You may be able to go to a local AD and see something of similar size with a band to try on. 8000 is alot of wood to drop so be sure, the only thing is you can always resell it if its not for you.. my advise be froggy and JUMP on it...

Wow!! Awesome watch Al. Do you feel $8k is a reasonable price for a brand new master calendar? Thanks

Thanks Oilman. I wish it was for a forum member. I would feel much better. I found it online and negotiated the price. There is a 3 day return policy. I'm so indecisive.

I saw one on line as well, but I think it was a reputable brick and morter jewlery store. Easy enough to confirm. If it was ebay I would be cautious, although some real deals are there so are scammers (just like everywhere)..

It's a beautiful watch! I'd definitely be getting one if it wasn't for the Reverso I have on order. Good luck!

I used to have one. It is a beautiful watch. I sold mine because I began having trouble reading the dial.

I think that watch is a very nice one! I almost bought one once but I would have had to get rid of my whole collection to afford it and decided not to do it in the end...

8k is a good deal but I remember seeing better prices around here, perhaps there has been a raise but you may be able to save a tad more if you look around.

Thank you everyone for the input. I have decided that I am definitely going to purchase the JLC Master Calendar. However, I will take Oilman's advice and either purchase from a brick and mortar store or even better a trusted forum member.

I had my heart set on an AP safari a while back but came to the realize I would have to sell my other watches to finance it. The JLC I can afford and will get!

Just curious, I understand that JLC is a very nice watch but why is there no thread dedicated to it on the forums?

Thanks again everyone. As always you have great advice and give me a wonderful education on my passion.

Cheers!

The MC is one of my all time favorite watches. This one is a Ruthenium dial boutique edition, they made only 35 of these. It is one of the watches I would never part with.

A very good decision

I think you're better off buying from a bricks & mortar or from one of the trusted sellers here on TRF.

Get a resale and save the money for another watch. I got my from the second hand market for less than US$6,000.

Its worth every cent I paid for. I am sure you will like it alot once you buy it. Have a greeeaaat day!

JLC master calendar

I have the new model. It gets tons of wrist time. Loving it so far. I would think you'd be able to find the older model for less.
