Finally did it. Thomas Preik on my 116613LB.
Well guys I ordered a Thomas Preik sapphire case back for my SubC about three weeks ago and I got it within 5 days but have been so busy at work I haven't had the time to get it put on. It's been very tempting to do it myself especially since I have a LG case back opener at home. However with the ceramic bezel etc I decided not to try on this one. So I finally got around to going to see my watch maker and had him swap it out while I waited. Btw it's so nice to have a Rolex trained watch maker on speed dial to help me out on the spot. No dropping off. No sending away. My guy rocks!! At any rate I know a Rolex movement is no big secret or mind blowing but it's something I wanted to do. My watch maker said its no different than Ferrari owners wanting to look under the hood. You want to see what's going on. As far as my opinions. The quality is top notch and there's zero difference in how it wears. Zero. My guy even said he was surprised of the quality. He said he's seen a few in his day and this one is by far the best he's ever seen. Alright guys here's a few picks. Sorry I forgot to take a few of just the sapphire case back before I had it put on but there's plenty on his website. Btw sorry for the CRAPPY IPhone pics. I hacked the movement so you can see the parachrome mainspring.

Here's a few more. If anyone has any requests just let me know. If you want one from a certain angle etc. Notice how there is no difference in height on the wrist. Hope you enjoy.

Yes so they say but myself would not use in water unless it was pressure checked first. But its doubtful if the watch will be used underwater but still always wise to re-pressure check when ever a case back is removed.Myself not a huge fan of view backs especially on Rolex watches but if the poster is happy with it that's all that matters.

I like it, great analogy about wanting to see the "engine".

Love the case back... Wish Rolex would make a movement worthy of a " Ferrari " engine...
Sigh.... |

Even though it is not prettied up it is still cool to see! Form follows function and all.

I wonder why the reigning mentality is that a tool watch doesn't need a well decorated movement... other tool watches have done a great job in adopting a clear case back AND putting effort in building handsome movements. The latest PO and Speedmaster come to mind.

As others have said before, Rolex does not make the most ornate movements, but it is still fun to see!
