I'm not a doctor, and I don't know, but I've heard this. In Finland I don't know anyone who get's regular flu-shots. I do know a few who got the UNTESTED swine-flu vaccine.

That swine-flu is no laughing matter, it was killing a lot of people before they got it under control. They had no time to test it, so if someone is saved by the vaccine and grows horns so be it. That is better than taking a dirt nap.

After the vaccine was introduced, the death rate declined, less people got the flu.

I don't want to argue with you about this, but a flu (including H1N1) lives for about 2-4 weeks, then it settles, until it once again flourishes.

At the height of the "crisis" in 2009 it was thought that 1/3 of our population would get H1N1. Later it was estimated that 1/5 would get it. That would account to 1 million. Estimated Unconfirmed cases are believed to have been 5.000 - 10.000. Confirmed cases 3472.

44 deaths. 90% of these 44 persons had preconditions.

I think as with all flu viruses our immune system grow a stronger resistance.

I don't want to downplay how sad it is that even one person gets "killed" by a flu, something I get twice a year, stay in bed a day tops, and I'm better.

However, the most dangerous thing IMHO is to cause widespread panic and doomsday news (what the media essentially does).

A flu can be potentially lethal. Whatever flu it is.

This post was only to raise awareness that an old enemy has returned. Some parts of the world won't ever see it..some will see it a lot. I don't know if certain cultures have supra immune systems or not. I don't know if a tourist or returning local might bring something back to your area…just be aware.

The h1n1 flu shot it it's a dead virus, so the body sees that h1n1 and the immune system is now able identify and protect you from it keeping you healthy. True, it does not work for everyone, however it is better than nothing. I give the health professionals credit for doing their job. I'm living proof if a medic was not around when I needed it I would be in the ground pushing up daisy.

And that is the problem, third world country's do not take care of ther populations health and we suffer when they come to the US and infect us.

Mexico it's a perfect example of that, the people work in the US and live in Mexico and they bring all different bugs and introduce to our population. Children are the main problem, they live in Mexico and go to school in the US, infecting our children. Mexico, has its own bloody drug war going on inside it's country, it's taxing the country little money they have, they are having mass murders going on, so they don't have the resources to fight health issues.

I'm not trying to cause any trouble here except show how the spread of any virus can happen from right across the border, and Mexico does not have and health system like the US.

Same problem occurs with illegal aliens from other countries, they don't have health insurance so it makes you wonder what virus they are carrying to infect our population. I've read the reports from home land security and they have people entering the US with confirmed cases of TB, hepatitis, AIDS, swine flu, and some real nasty virus that is a whole lot worse. Just think what one person with an airborne virus can do on a crowded bus, or subway.

When shet hits the fan in the US, they act quickly and take care of business. They have the best CDC in the world, they are the leader in prevention. The US military also works with diseases, to assist other countries when a plague hits them, unlike some countries that won't lift a finger to help out.

The fact that vaccines don't work for everyone is the main reason that everyone should get vaccinated.

The idea is that the more people who have an immunity to a disease, the better protected the ones who don't have immunity are, because there are fewer infected people in the population.

Got my flu shot this morning.

Over the weekend, my wife brought to my attention that 9 people here in the Bay Area have fallen victim (death) to the H1N1 Swine Flu.

This has transpired over just one-week.

Tragically, it claimed the life of a healthy 23-year-old in Santa Rosa. A heart-breaking story.

Be sure you get your shots, folks.
