45' Hawaiian style waves expected Tuesday

Aloha members,
Forecast calls for 45' plus waves on the North Shore to start rolling in this coming Tuesday. Which means 60' to 70' faces on the outer reefs! You won't caught me out there however I am sure there will be a few daredevils braving the surf! Surfers from around the world will be gathering on the North Shore of Oahu hoping the waves will be just right to run the Eddie. The Eddie is a surfing event to honor the life of an individual who gave his life to help the crew of the Ho`kuleia on one of it's maiden trial runs out in the ocean back in the 70's. If you have ever heard the term "Eddie would go" then you know what that stands for! A brave individual who gave his life to help others.
Hope to snap a few pics of the surf! Will post so pics for you all.

Aloha from Kauai,

Tom

We can assume then you won't be paddling to Oahu, right?

It's been four years since the last Eddie. I'm sure this will be a huge event. Looking forward to the photos!

No, no think I paddle to Oahu! Yes the Eddie is not run unless the condition are perfect. Fingers crossed we have clean waves just as we did for the final foe the Triple Crown event. That was an awesome day!

Hanalei Bay winter surf by you ain't too shabby either. But of course the North Shore in the winter is world famous and this sounds like it will be truly epic.

I'd like to see someone ride the 45' waves.

Be safe out there.

Yeah, My limit is 15 ft. (not by hawaii standards). In my neck of the woods only during Hurricane season do we get that. It requires total dedication or your dead for sure. When the wife and I were last in Kauai I surfed Tunnels and pearled on a takeoff. Got a nice bit of reef rash from that one. Needless to say I started shoulder hopping after that scare.
