Sorry for your loss. It might be a good idea to go down to your friendly neighbourhood AD & look & try on various Rolexes until you find the one you like & reminds you most of your grandfather.

Great Choice. If I didn't have one and were to get my first, the BNLR would be at the top of the list.

Agree with what others have said, "Gettest thou to an AD and tryest on watches!" Sad condolences on you Grand Father's passing.

Yep and yep, it's a miserable feeling losing a grandpap that is full of life and fun.
Good keeping his memory before your eyes (in front of you) with your excellent choice.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. Nice to see that he thought enough to get you a forever piece. I was lucky to get my father's 1980 Air King and 1969 Speedmaster. Only way to know what you like is to go and put them on your wrist. If it was me, I would get black faced sub, no date. Good luck

Perhaps look for one model which your Grandfather use to like a lot? You can ask someone that is close to him and know his taste? Or a vintage model of some significant year? Your Grandfather birth year, your birth year, the year you started working or the year your Grand father said that he's going to buy you a Rolex?
