5726 or 5167?
Hi all, I am considering in some time, probably before summer, changing my Daytona 116515 either for a 5726 on bracelet with grey dial or a 5167 in SS.
It would be number 3 with a 5712 and a Hulk. Of course the price difference is very big between the 2, and I am wondering if a 5712 and 5726, both on bracelet, is not too similar. If I didn't have the 5712 I would not hesitate 1 second and go for the 5726, the AC and moon phase make it perfect IMO as a useful complications Patek, whereas the 5712 is an original and "funky" dial watch with basically useless complications but I love it. I tried the 5167 but in RG, stunning but can't justify the huge price difference just for RG. I chose the 5712 over the 5711 because as my first and maybe only Patek I wanted complications, but as a 2nd I can see the 5167 fitting nicely in a trio, as I have decided for some time already that I won't have more than 3-4 pieces. All the posts I read say how the Aquanaut is incredibly comfortable, which I can imagine as my 5712 is by far the most comfortable watch I have owned, I used to like big and heavy watches but since my 5712 I like thin and light watches. I would love to have opinions and feedback of people who have the Aquanaut, SS or RG and a Nautilus on bracelet, 5711 or 5712, my preference for now goes for the 5167 but still have doubts, your opinions will be very useful, thanks in advance |

I have the 5167, don't wear it much anymore, but yes it's probably the most comfortable watch I've ever put on. I also have the 5726 but on strap. I always think PP and think strap and not bracelet, though the bracelet looks very nice on the Nautilus.
I like the AC complication and I'm a stickler for moonphases. The 5726 also wears very comfortably, speaking for the strap version. Tough choice and considering the price difference, I'd still go with the 5726 over the 5167. You're really just placing your money into another bank account when you buy PP, remember. So pay the extra difference if it doesn't hurt and buy another crazy cool Nautilus! |

I have 5167R and absolutely love it and it is by far my most comfortable watch! Oh and by the way I definitely could justify the RG after setting my eyes on it. Love Patek RG and the brown dial to die for!

I'd get the 5726 now, and later on trade the 5712 in towards a Royal Oak variant. One Patek, one Rolex, one AP would make a well-rounded collection.
Or, if you definitely want to keep the 5712, then go for the 5167 instead of the 5726.

I would either keep your daytona or go for the 5167 and keep the other two.

It's hard for a lot of people to justify the 5167R because the actual gold weight is nowhere near commensurate with the premium paid, but if you can get it for high 20's and not the retail number it's actually less than a 10k difference. The justification is that the resale value is largely in the name, not in the metal content. Ken's piece always makes me want to rush to my AD and get one, but then something else sings to me.

5726 grey dial no contest! Keeping my fingers crossed a 5726R gets released next year!

Very curious what MSRP will be if they do. They released a steel 5990 chrono travel time at 57k and if msrp is 42 on a steel 5726 (strap version) I'm guessing 60+k pricepoint for 5726r.

5167 would seem to round out your collection very nicely, and I wear mine very often. It is a great "do everything" watch. Are you going to miss having a chrono in the mix, though?

One thing is clear there is no way I am selling my 5712, I just love this watch, it's my first Patek and I really love it

5167 sure seems like a great choice, then. Tropical strap makes it so very versatile. Would complement your Nautilus and Sub.

I agree with Ken, I know it costs more than the 5167 but you have to pay to play at this level and if you are giving up a RG watch you should replace it with one and if you are only going to have 3 watches, get the best 3 you can. Remember Arnaud you have not been happy with that Daytona for many months now even tho you have tried hard to like it so that tells you that you can't settle and get the second best one, it doesn't work for you.

5726 or 5167?
At this point we are all waiting to see what is coming next year from PP...but I would not want two nautilus in a 3 watch collection personally.
Therefore 5167 is a great choice. If you like brown then consider the RG of course

Well Tom that's also what I'm thinking, as much as I love the 5726 there is no way my 5712 is going so 2 Nautilus in a trio is a little off. I have yet to see the SS, just saw the RG for now

I would enjoy the heck out of your 5712 and Save Save Save and add a precious metal with complication(s) on a strap for your next piece. I would not add another sporty watch considering you have The Hulk and a 5712 which is sporty and elegant.

In fact Mike I am really not into dress watches, but into either sport watches or dressy sport watches like the 5712

5167R but as a warning, your current collection might feel neglected.

Go for the 5726 - it has a genuine arm presence. The 5167 has not. It is way too thin and a feminine watch for you wife.

IMO You are well covered in the SS department. I would go for a precious metal with my third watch. Could be the 5167R. Have you considered the AP RO 15202 RG? I just saw it at my AD and it is simply amazing.
If you really love SS I will go with the 5726A with leather strap over the 5167A. 5726/1A is too similar to your 5712/1A. Good luck! |

Agree with Ken as well, since you already have a 5712 and want to keep it, I would go for a 5167R over the 5726 to mix it up a bit. I think having the 5712 and 5726 is too similar, especially in a 3 watch collection IMHO. I absolutely loved the 5167R and it's such a versatile and comfortable watch.

You have a really sporty watch in the Hulk, and a sports elegant watch in the 5712. If you must have a Patek, why not go for one of their dressier watches? The are so many cool and stylish ones outside of the Nautilus look.
