Consistently losing time

Hi. My Aquanaut has been losing 6 seconds a day over the past 2 months. I have tried putting it in various positions when its not on my wrist (crown up, crown down, face up, face down...etc). I was planning on going to Henri Stern on Monday to see if they can either take the watch to fix this or am I being overly demanding? Any opinions will be appreciated. Thanks

Wouldn't worry about it yet. In all honesty I've found my Patek's to be less accurate than my Rolex's. Are you keeping the watch on a winder?

I've been wearing the watch every day for the past two months. So when it's not on my wrist it's on my dresser or in my watch box. I have not had it on a timer.

Actually my Patek's keep perfect time and all including my 99' 5070 keep within a second a day. So for me 6 is a bit off but not sure if I would take time to do anythig as is is a pain in the arse.

Does patek even ensure accuracy inside of 6 seconds? What is their standard for accuracy? I've never actually checked my aquanaut but it's seems to be keeping time well.

Patek instructions say -3 to +2 in a 24hr period.

Do you keep them wound over a long period of time Ken? Mine are on a winder consistently and that could be part of my problem. Don't you reset your watches every time you put them on? That could be part of the equation too..

Keeping watch on winder defintely reason for inaccuracy! I don't keep any on winder but when I used to time was way off. I wind them, set and wear them. I keep all in bank safe deposit box and only keep one with me and in wrist at a time.

Thankfully it is very close to my house!

Totally agree! Even for those of us with smaller collections the safe deposit box route is the way to go. I thought it would be annoying but Ken and others convinced me and I feel much more comfortable every time I leave town and such.

Plus I get a kick out of going in the old vault lol makes me feel like Al in dog day afternoon

I do the same as I think it s the safest however heard a story when the bank had burst pipe and client s pocketwatch collection-over100pcs.-got flooded.

I double bag them in zip lock bags as well for that very reason.

Not to hijack the thread re-direction, but when was the last time the 5167 was serviced?
I'm another who isn't bothered by accuracy up to around 10-sec. a day (I set it 30-seconds one direction so it ends about the same the opposite direction at the end of the week).
Certainly no harm getting an opinion from The House (unless you consider the wait unbearable). I suspect timing is "close enough" so that Stern will not be obligated to repair it. Kinda like when you take your car in to repair under warranty, but they "can't replicate the issue."

With my limited experience the PPs I've had have been more accurate than my Rolexes as well, and really impressed as I think any watch within COSC specs are quite good, and the PPs are well within the specs, definitely with their own internal specs of +3/-2 secs/day.

Like Ken, I also don't keep my watch on winders, as I do find them to be much less accurate on the winders.

While my 5712 keeps more or less ok time, last time I put it on exact time was on the 29th of December, so 7,5 days ago from now, it's behind by 25 secs, which is acceptable by me, especially that my watch is all the time on my wrists except when taking a bath/shower, I've been wearing only my Patek the last 3 weeks, but that same day, 29th, another member asked me to see what would be the result if I let it rest face up for 12hrs, and the result was crazy, -16 secs, I wouldn't really bother for 6 secs per day, as long as the time is close to the exact time it's ok for me, sending it for God knows how long to Patek to check it out isn't something I would think of doing except if it was 15 secs per day off...

Usually banks have insurance until a certain amount, or if you get a special insurance, but if you put 1 million $ of watches and there is a fire or flood I don't think unless you made sure otherwise that you will be insured for the total amount
