Thanks for posting this. I've always wondered what would be the roughest trauma on the watch: would it be the temperature cycling, or going back and forth to zero G? It seems to me a watch that was really well-sealed from the elements might be problematic when the watch would need to internally equalize from the external changes.

My feeling is that it is the combination of depressurizing to vacuum, (perhaps with some residual internal pressure) followed by extreme heating and bumping likely caused this. The lunar temps were over 200F by the time EVA 3 rolled around and the bezel probably expanded and loosened a bit. Pop goes the crystal. It happened on Apollo 15 too.

I have one and the previous owner insists that is how he bought it (he was the second owner, but had it since the 70's)
Thanks.
Don't worry, they did.

Yes....and probably by the same schmuck that stole Peter Fonda's chopper after completion of the movie "Easy Rider"....

Some people really suck...

No. The first one in the traditional Speedy Pro look was the 345.0809 produced first in 1985 (i think) and limited to 1300 pieces (i think).

A lot of buzz ( ) going around the space collector/speedmaster commmunity that NASA, Air/Space Museum, and Omega have found the watch. It is also believed by me that it is not the 145.012 that it is most likely believed to have been. It has been reported that NASA and Omega are soon to make a large announcement.
