Greetings from the Philippines
Hi, I found this site when I was surfing the net for rolex watches and found the people here very accommodating and friendly! I'm in to get my first rolex watch, a birthday gift for myself. Actually, I'm tossed between a DJ and a YM. Anyway, my birthday is still two months to go, so I think I pretty have much time to search this forum and make my decision.

Oh Mr. Clean. As macho as you are you'd look really good with the new TT GMT-Master IIc. It goes good with all of the cleaning solutions as it is water proof and it is a 40 mm watch so it is rugged and manly.
Welcome to TRF. Buy whatever makes you smile. I would suggest you go to an authorized dealer and try several of them on before you decide on one. The one I originally wanted is far from what I actually got when I finally made up my mind about five years after lusting over one. I was always so practical it finally took my wife to convince me to get it as you only live once. Enjoy your stay here. Terry Newton

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the warm welcome! Although, my avatar is a macho man, I don't exactly look like him...lol Yes, the new GMT II-c also catches my fancy. I'll take your advise and go to an AD and try on the different models and see what fits me. Just like you, I'm also a practical guy and in fact, I don't wear any watch on my wrist. But maybe it's time to get a "royal crown" on my wrist! Elmer |

Have a look at the Platty (YM) at your AD's. This is one watch you have to see in person to appreciate its beauty. I've had mine now for almost 5 months and enjoying it immensely. JJ

@JJ
Thanks for the close up picture. I've been drooling over the YM on your wrist (the picture shown at the bottom of your posts) as I saw them in your other posts. The close up picture is really great! Elmer |

Mr. Clean:
J.J. has created such an unfair advantage by posting a picture to tempt you. In order for this to be fair I will have to do the same. Here is the gratuitous wrist shot and others: Please consider carefully. You will be wearing this watch for a long time (unless you become a flipper) and I would hate to see you feel sadness that you got the wrong one. Anything I can do to help. Terry Newton

Terry,
Both those babies are absolutely beautiful. The TT GMT-IIC would be pricey compared with the other one, but let our friend make the final choice. JJ

Anyway, personally, I'd opt for the YM, as well. Great looking watch which combines sport's and dress look. Welcome to TRF, Mr. Clean!

Mr Clean - welcome to TRF. I see that JJ and Terry have already set their stalls of temptation out for you. Well, owning a GMT IIc, I have to admit that it's a great watch, JJ's 'Platty' is legendary around here and I'll attach a shot of my DJ for you to see, too.

I was almost smitten by the YM as the pic posted by JJ was really great! But when I saw Terry's GMC IIc and Oystermann's DJ, I think the playing field is now levelled...hehe...I think I would need an arbiter (the wifey) to finally decide which one to buy.
@Space Dweller, thanks for the warm welcome! @tylerdude, hi, it's nice to know I've got a kababayan here! I from Iloilo. |

Mr. Clean. Check out the DJ's. They come in so many variants; one of them is sure to tempt you. Rolex's are like Lays potato chips. You can't just have one. Myself, I've lusted over the classic TT DJ since I was a teen and I am now almost 50 and it is still held in high regard in my eye. I do think a SS GMT is in my future, but I must admit, JJ's Platty is highly tempting. The pictures are great! JJ, are you getting a commission from Rolex?

@oneillba,
Thanks for the sound advice. I'm going to go through the 3 different rolex models (YM, DJ, GMTIIc). Study each one carefully, as well as check what looks good on my wrist once I go to an AD. |

Hi Mr Clean,
Welcome to TRF! Ever consider a Sea-Dweller! They will be gone soon!

Hi Erwin,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Actually, I never really considered the Sea-Dweller, but what do you mean "they will be gone soon"? |

They've been discontinued due to the new DSSD ( deep sea sea dweller )! Price might go sky high someday! Where are you planning on getting your first Rolex, Glorietta?

Thanks for the info!!! Actually, I'm from Iloilo (unluckily, the only AD here ceased to be one already). I'll fly to Manila next month, and yes, maybe at Glorietta. Btw, are you from Manila?

Mr. Clean,
Welcome to TRF. I'm going to side with Terry and suggest you look at the IIc. I have the SS version and love it! However, the ultimate test will be when you go to your AD and find the watch that speaks to your heart. Enjoy your stay and enjoy your time searching for that one true Rolex that will talk to you... and you'll know when it does. John
