Opinion: Fluted or Smooth Bezel?

The fluted bezel on the Day Date and DateJust is legendary but I've grown to really love the smooth bezel as well. What's your thoughts?

I loved the fluted bezels in pictures, but when I tried one on, I felt that it was just too "blingy". Shines too much for my taste.
Still looks great nevertheless!

I've changed the fluted bezel on my 118239 to the smooth bezel for no other reason than personal preference. Both looks are nice though.

Fluted more classical and dressier, smooth more sporty and modern, really depends on which look you prefer. I would get a DD and DJ in one of each.

Yep definitely smooth is sportier (I think works better with stick and Arabic dials in SS or WG). Fluted I think works best with Roman dial and if you go TT or YG.

fluted for sure on the DJ2 and DD2, and DD. The 36mm DJ is a toss up to me.

Fluted!

One of the very first Rolex watches that ever had me in awe was a fluted bezel datejust. When the light hits it just right there is nothing better!

I really like and appreciate both for different reasons. Smooth is understated while the fluted definately exudes a flashier appearance.

Agree here all the way. I owned a 16234 but couldn't get used to the blingyness of the fluted bezel and jubilee. Now im shopping for a 16200 on oyster.

Obviously they're very different so you're personal preference is what matters.
