Pulling the trigger

So there I was at an AD and trying on the elusive BLNR GMT
It looked awesome. I knew $8950 was the going rate with or without the pre-owned market. I had the funds and the desire.
But I didn't buy it. Something about the Rolex pricing structure, the similaryit of many of their watches, and the obnoxious MRSP hikes over the past 5 years I just couldn't complete the transaction.
Has anyone else had the urge to pull back?
Complete disclosure I have obtained a moon watch, a Grey Side of the moon, and an Aqua Terra for my wife over the past 12 months.

I see some of your point on similarities among Subs, GMT's, DeepSeas and the like, but I didn't think Rolex has had a price increase in the US in three years or so.

I really do love the watch line. Don't love the brand. Loving my daytona. M

But also super happy with my majority omega collection.

If I wanted it and had the funds to buy it, I would do so. I think you just cut off your nose to spite your face.

It's part of the reason I have moved over to Tudor.
Rolex is very expensive for what they are. Yes they are gorgeous, Yes they are quality, but at the prices they are I feel they price themselves high.
I struggle to justify the funds tied up in one watch, with Tudor I can have 3.

Agreed Matt. However when I think I have talked myslef into a Pelagos I always walk away knowing I will look at it and wish I had gotten a sub or gmt.

It is weird that every time I get a new watch I start thinking about the next watch I want instead of enjoying the one I just bought.

Sometimes it's good to have a reality check and ask yourself if you really want to drop nearly $10k on a mass-produced steel watch.

Of course some will say 'yes!'

I had similar feelings a few years back when the prices suddenly 'Spiked'.Never again I said to myself.However,I realised nothing else quite scratched the itch,so I came to the conclusion after owning cheaper watches and loosing tons of money that the only answer was to stomach it.The one concelation that their value does follow in line with the increases in price of new.

A rising tide lifts all ships. The high prices just mean that pre loved rolex pieces are now valued at a higher number. It's really all relative if you think about it that way. It would be different if they kept raising prices and you could find a pre owned option at a 60% discount. However, that is not the case.

I'm certainly at the point where I will find it hard to justify another Rolex purchase, certainly for a few years......... But I do see myself adding a Tudor sooner rather than later. They have really caught my eye lately

I would buy it slightly used from a seller on here

The gently used BLNR is only a few hundred less than sticker.
Worth a couple of hundred for NIB with a fresh warranty IMO
However the GMT LN does find a nice price point in the pre owend market
