gold vs ss/gold

Why does a RSC service for an all gold or platinum piece cost more than a stainless/gold or stainless steel piece? Just curious; I was shown the rolex price sheet and saw the list prices. Aren't the movements the same? Thanks.

Precious metal watches take extra precautions to ensure the softer metals are not damaged. The gold replacement parts, such as the spring-bars, are also gold instead of SS and cost more.

I think that there has always been an up-charge for pm models..
