Not feeling the love for my Omega 9300 PO :(

Hi guys,

Ive had my omega 9300c Planet Ocean for almost 4 months now and i am starting to regret getting it. Let me word that better. I don't like it as much as i did when i purchased it.

It is a nice watch to look at but I feel it isn't for me any more so need some advice.

Over all its a truly awesome watch and the quality of it is mesmerising to look at, however when on the wrist it seems like a "tool" if you know what i mean. It just doesn't do it for me anymore. Which leads me to the next question.

I have a line up in the Rolex category.

Ive not tried any of these on as of yet as i think it will be a slippery slope Hahaha !!

Oh one other question, Would you average AD accept an exchange service where they would buy your watch off you and knock some money off the new one ? I got my PO from Goldsmiths.

I don't think its unusual to have a honeymoon period after buying a watch and then to have things cool off a bit. Sometimes it is because it doesn't fit your lifestyle as well as you thought, and sometimes after wearing it you realize that your tastes may have changed. Describing it as a "tool" and then listing some of the most iconic "tool watches" out there doesn't completely make sense to me. Maybe you're looking for a more luxurious "tool?"

I know people will say sell/trade it and I tend to agree. My only suggestion is to maybe stick with it a month or two more to be sure because you'll take a pretty big hit selling/trading it, and it won't really drop in value between now and another 2 months. That way you'll be sure. After all, you did like it enough at one point to buy it out of the hundreds (? thousands) of watches out there.

Perhaps, however you will likely be unhappy with the amount they would offer.

Better to sell it yourself or see if someone here would take it in trade.

All watches in the Rolex Sport range I would consider "tools" too, however my PO feels more so due to the weight of it.

I do work at a desk most of the day so desk dives are inevitable. Having Polished center links would mean desk dives are going to show up more than if it where brushed, has anyone fitted the glide lock clasp to their GMT ?

I love Omega as a brand for the quality and history that go along with it. However, I've never really bonded with any Omegas I have owned including the Speedmaster.

I can relate.. I had it for less than a week.. It did not impress me at all. I get your point of it being just a tool watch, or better say it's just a watch.

Your best bet would be sell on a forum and not trade it it. They'll offed way less than its worth.

I'd switch to a Rolex. Try to sell it on tz-uk if you're a member otherwise ebay and cash for collection at a bank only.

I made a similar error in judgement (perhaps more so with Tag lol), when I purchased my Aquaracer from goldsmiths. I recently switched for a BLNR but purchased it and then sold my Tag the following month. With a part-ex you'll be lucky to be offered a quarter of your PO's value. I went through the ebay route and actually made a bit of cash out of my sale (look out for the 75% off final value fee offer which pops up once a month and list your watch then ).

As others have said, however, do a private sale or a flip with a trusted seller, not a trade in.

Seriously don't jump too soon! I had a similar feeling not long after buying my SMP. That was five years ago, and now I'd never be without it!

Give it a few months, then if you still don't feel it, sell it. But DON'T trade. If you still want a Rolex, save and get one and start a collection. Then you will have a great day to day watch and maybe something for more 'special' occasions.

I know the feeling..... I picked this up about 12 months ago and although I do still like it I just don't give it as much wrist time as my other watches. I should have given it a bit more thought before buying.

I just couldn't stand how high it sat on the wrist. For me it was an instantaneous feeling.

Too bad because the Planet Ocean 2500's sat well and are as solid a watch as you can get.

Plus I still don't like the lack of crown guards. Makes the crown stick out like a lone building in a stark landscape.

I bought a brand new PO 2500 42mm and traded it within a week for a 20 year old rolex explorer II. I really can't say exactly why, but for some reason I went from really liking it in the store to not being able to get rid of it quick enough once I bought it.

some AD's accept as credit any watch with value, some only Rolex's, and other none at all. Regardless, any credit will much much lower than what you would get out of selling it your self

I would advise you look at a Rolex GMT. They feel very good on the wrist and offer a lot of versatility.

Have you considered maybe switching out the bracelet for a leather strap? I have seen your particular Omega on a brown leather strap and it changed the watch tremendously. Also, you could try the Omega rubber deployment. These are a few of the options I would try before selling/trading the watch.

Agreed. Give it a few more months. Omega resale value drops almost to half of original msrp once it's used. So I wouldn't rush getting rid of it.

I have been looking at second hand watches that are around the same age as mine and they are all around £3800. I payed £5250 ! That Is eye watering !

What is the RRP of the BLNR ?

The weight and thickness if the 9300 is what pushed me to getting a seamaster instead of the PO.
Then it was between the seamaster or the blnr. Chose omega but will likely get that role in the future.

It is quite a chunk mate ! Just recently I was complaining about wrist ache from it because it sits high and pulls to one side.

The 600M Omega watches with the He valve are all TOO BIG and TALL for my taste. I love my Speedy and for the last 4 years, it has been my #1 watch. I think the AT150 is a handsome model and that will probably be my next new watch purchase.

My GMT-IIC is very similarly sized to my Speedy, but it sits closer to the wrist because of an almost flat case back. The II-C has great wrist presence, and a lot more usefulness to me than a Sub.

The only thing that puts me off of Rolex sport watches is the case size, when I've seen them they seem really small. A 43mm case would be nice. What about the bracelet, in your opinion is it better made than the omega ?
