Bezel surprise/HELP

I sent in my YG presidential DDJ a few weeks ago for its 5 year service and had a very good experience. I had originally purchased the watch from an AD in AL. Within 6 months I had problems with the stem and had to send it in for repair. At this time, I asked if I could purchase the diamond bezel which included rubies at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 markers. I was informed that it would cost $10K. I assumed it was being sent directly to Rolex as I was working with an AD and they told me it would be returned in approximately 6 weeks. The watch was returned and was beautiful. 1 year later, I had to send my watch back in as I was having stem problems again. ROLEX sent me a letter and told me that the diamond/ruby bezel was not a ROLEX bezel, it was an after market bezel. They would not repair my watch unless I allowed them to remove the aftermarket bezel and install a ROLEX diamond bezel for $7K and they keep the aftermarket bezel. I suggest anyone sending in a Rolex for service, to make sure it is going to an authorized ROLEX repair center or you may find it has been shipped to a non-Rolex repair center.
Anyone else experience this type of nightmare????

Can anyone tell me how to check a Rolex serial number to see if it is authentic?

Welcome to the Forum David! I'm sorry to hear about your bezel, it shouldn't happen. If I were you I would speak with a lawyer about this situation. This is one of the reasons I like to deal with the RSC direct.

Interesting...do you have the paperwork from the bezel purchase? I'd raise hell.

Welcome to TRF, David!

Sorry to hear about this! To get this straight: You had your DD sent to get a bezel exchange, using YOUR AD as middle man?

You need written confirmation from RSC that the bezel is indeed an aftermarket part. If you have the receipt for the aftermarket bezel exchange, go to your AD and show him both receipts, claiming a refund of your money.

As to your question on how to check the serial number: The serial number is engraved between the lugs at six o' clock UNDER the endlink of the bracelet. So you would need to take the bracelet off to see the serial number. Have your AD do it for you while you visit him again.
