Rolex at Pinehurst
Just returned from a weekend at Pinehurst, played #2, #8 and Tobacco Road. Rolex spottings in all directions... talk about part of the uniform, wow!
Rolex is partners with the Pinehurst resort so those Rolex wall clocks with fluted bezels that we all covet are EVERYWHERE!! Tried to talk my wife into letting me pull one off the wall and stuff it in the luggage but she wouldn't agree to bail me out if caught This place is a must visit for anyone who plays golf and/or appreciates the history of the game, walking through the halls and seeing the trophies, clubs, photos, etc... is awesome and humbling in terms of the greats who have trod that same hallway... RIP Payne... |

Misread that as "Pine Valley"!
That stated, I'd love to play PH #2. How did you do? The undulations and fall-offs can be killer (from what I've seen on TV). Cheers, Ben |

Great course!

In the condition we played it, "normal" difficulty, the greens were formidable but would hold the correct approach shot although they had been tempered somewhat by recent rains. The real difference is in the fairs which, when played at "tourney speed", will not hold anything but a perfect tee shot as any others will run through to the "native" areas. That is where the course really places a premium on accurate and consistent ball striking. Fantastic experience though, get there if you can!! |

Most of us don't understand the differences between tournament golf and our golf.
The tournament greens are so much nicer, and roll so much truer than normal greens. But, the distances that they play from, and the pin placements, would ruin our scores! PH #2 is definitely a course I need to play! Cheers, Ben |
