A reason to love my Explorer II

Just made it through my first two weeks of ownership with my new white dial Explorer II and I love how this thing flys below the radar. Several of my co-workers know that I was saving for a Rolex and when they saw a new watch on my wrist they all say "what happened? I thought you were getting a Rolex."

Gotta love it!

All for now,

db

You know, even my dear sweet gray haired mother looks at my Rolex and just shakes her head..

To her, a Rolex should have a diamond bezel, at the least, and be solid gold.. I guess old stereotypes die hard.........

The white dial Explorer II is a sporty and elegant looking Rolex, one of the best looking. Congratulations and enjoy your watch, Darren.

"Credit", are you serious. For me, a nice watch is about personal satisfaction.....not showing off. Stealth is the way to go for me also, I prefer my watch not to be noticed.

Although I bet you wound not mind if someone said "Hey, Nice Explorer!" At least then you know you are speaking with another WIS. Especially when they say, "I noticed the GMT is set to MST, where in the west are you from?"

I am always up for a conversation with another watch lover, but I am not walking around sticking my watch in their face. Not that anyone here does, but to be honest, when a non-wis notices my watch, I find it a little embarrassing. We all understand the quality behind the watches we wear, but most don't, I wear my Rolex for me, and me alone.

That is one of the reason I love my Tudor. "Hey nice Rolex." ME: "Nope it is actually made by Tudor, Rolex is a little out of my league." Actually that only happened once, but still an easy coup out.

Exactly..... We all know that it can lead to an uncomfortable situation if we let it. To the few who have noticed I just tell them that it's someting that I decided to do for myself and leave it at that.

Did have a guy with a serious set of stones come up to me and say "if it were me, I would have gotten the Sub - much cooler watch" I had the shear pleasure of replying with something to the fact that when you're ready to step up to the plate, you can buy whatever you want, and no, you can't try my watch on!

Still loving the Explorer II!

Should've told him your Sub was at the RSC that week.

Congrats on your new watch DB! I also love the Expy II all though I ended up buying a black one the same thing goes for that one people hardly notice it. Funny thing was someone I knew said what's that new watch you got there( I also own several Tag Heuer models) is it a new Tag? And when I said no and showed it to him so he could see for hisself what it was he ended up calling me a pimp...
I rather get compliments/remarks from people that don't know anything about watches(I get that a lot with the S/el and Link model by Tag Heuer just because of the way the bracelet looks) then from someone that only has a idea of what the watch might cost but has no idea about the history or technique that comes along with it.

I've worn a black faced EXP2 for about 13 years and agree totally that it does fly under the radar. I also have owned a TT blue sub for a few months and whilst it is a magnificient watch it is very flash and there are many places and situations where I would feel self concious wearing it. I even contemplated a YG Daytona but decided that it was far too flash for my lifestyle.

I recently purchased a white dial VC overseas chrono and this watch also flys under the radar. I spend a lot of time in Indonesia and whilst this watch may represent years of wages for some of the people I deal with it is not apparent.

Congrats on the EXP 2. Welcome to the 4 hand club.
The coolest EXP 2 I've seen was Larry's sporting the jubilee bracelet. But, so much for slipping under the radar.
