New here. I just discovered this thread. I'm by no means an expert but I just drink what I love and currently it's lot of Cabernet-Sauvignon from Australia. Looking forward to sharing the love we have for our fermented grape juice

Some favourites from my wine fridge:

2 great wines there, I'd leave the 707 for a few more years before drinking it.
( that's if you haven't already )

I drank it to see if it was real because it was my first time with this particular dealer. Turned out to be legitimate. I purchased 4 more bottles and I'll wait until at least 2020 to open one again.

This was back in 2014. I wasn't disappointed. Good structure/body, ripe fruit berries, velvety tannins, but I knew it still needed time to be what it could be.

I first discovered Penfolds (read nothing about them previously) at a party also in 2014. Friend of mine handed me a glass and just told me to try it. It was incredibly delicious. I loved it instantly and have never had anything like it before. Turned out to be '02 Bin 707.

Reviews on the 2010 vintage were all positive so I decided to purchase some. By 2020 I hope it'll blow me away as much as the '02 did in 2014.

I like drinking Bin 407 too so I normally stock a few bottles to host get-togethers with.

Penfolds make some great wines, my favourite affordable is Bin 389, recently taken a liking to Bin 28 and Bin 2. Give them a try

2010 Chardonnay, Carneros -I Recommend this Chardonnay!

Tasting Notes:
The Trinitas 2010 Chardonnay is from the Los Carneros appellation of the Napa Valley. The 88% new American oak lends to aromas of toasty, sun-kissed straw. Under the toast, subtle hints of bright citrus, vanilla, and toffee will fill your glass. Secondary fermentation creates a mid-palate with rich flavors of creamy butter and caramel. The surprisingly bright finish lingers with hints of baked granny smith apple.

Wine Specs:
Vintage: 2010
Varietal: Chardonnay
Appellation: Los Carneros
Acid: 5.13
pH: 3.8
Alcohol %: 14.30

Had dinner last night with a buddy in town from Boston who shares my willingness to drink and appreciate nice bottles. With our apps, we had a bottle of 2001 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne that was just singing. Then with our mains, we savored a 2009 J.L. Chave Hermitage rouge. Left the resto very, very happy......

This was really a great bottle - and quite a good Bordeaux vintage -- now it wasn't '82 or '86 good -- but I was REALLY surprised how much fruit was still there.

There were hints of leather, cedar and dark fruit - I got mainly plum -- which is what I expected.

I chose to keep in the bottle vs decanting --- didn't want to risk it potentially killing it...

I couldn't believe how little sediment was in the bottle.

This is a GREAT value Bordeaux in my opinion - slightly off the trail of the 'big' Bordeauxs -- but definitely worth trying.

One of my great friends came to visit Friday - and I opened a bottle of this --- followed by the Brand for dinner.

Neither one was disappointing... 👍👍

Eric and my buddy didn't get off to a rollicking start awhile back on another forum. Mutual buddy of theirs who was also a participant at the SQN offline got them synced up, and they patched up their differences. They're all serious wine geeks, as evidenced by some expensive older vintages and mags of SQN that were represented at the offline.

Ask Eric if he was part of the group that partook of the super rare Pappy 17 that the place had. $400/pour.........

I doubt it, Eric is from Kentucky and because of his association with restaurants has access to incredibly rare whiskey's especially Bourbon. I will ask him however.
