Our old friend is back at it again..

I am always leary of new members coming in and causing waves right up front. But as we have seen with another thread (not related to vintage pieces) a new member called out a fake and was spot on. Crazy watch world we live in.

This is why I am so hesitant (but so excited) to get into the vintage Rolex market.

This guy is a complete Assh*le. Can he be held liable? He's messing with a persons livelihood, on no basis whatsoever.

Well, well...
A double agent. I wonder if other TRF user ID's were generated by them as "sleeper cells" for that same scam plan.

Can all traffic from an IP address be blocked? I realize DHCP may be used by here guys to thwart such efforts.

WatchOut and Who's Who may have other spurious members.

Thanks, I missed that.

What a strange MO this guy had??!!

He came on here and posted fake/questionable ebay watches day in and day out, but for what purpose? I actually felt bad for him; I pictured him in a hospital bed or some other confined condition, with only ebay and TRF Watch-out to keep him company. That's probably the strangest banning I've seen around here. Can't wait until he retreads himself and appears with a new game.

Edit: I just checked out his website. Apparently, he's kinda pissed at Mr. Morgan.

He's also threatening to set up a bunch of shill buyers to entrap trusted sellers into lowering customs declarations, avoid taxes, etc.

In summary: oh, the irony. A guy dedicated to busting fake watches on social media supplements his income by selling fake watches on social media.

Don't sweat it...you're extremely generous with your time and knowledge and I'm glad you take that time to help others out. When I first started here, you trusted me and helped me expedite my education. Because of you and others sharing what you know, I now am able to do the same for others.

I think the guy has serious mental issues, and I doubt that he is the real "fakewatchbusta".

Wasn't he the guy calling out everything on eBay that may have been fake? If so, it seems to me now that he was testing us (well, you guys who know stuff, not so much me) to see if we could catch the fakes...

I thought that guy was a bit odd but I had no idea of a connection.

Ok. Yep. That's the guy.

Just read this entire thread and the other one with two topics running concurrently... I have a minor aneurism now but all I can say is WOW. This is like cloak and dagger stuff.

Plus, I'm unemployed right now and don't have time for that much bull typing, quoting etc. what does this guy do?

Even after all that, I still don't see the end game. Just to try to lend credibility to a scanner watch seller? Why bother?

No, it's just been a wee bit crazy here over the last couple days. Also, what I believe David was referring to is the divulging of detailed information regarding what certain "tells" are, which can be useful information to counterfeiters and "custom" watch builders.
Opinions on authenticity can be given without divulging the reasons "why".

Also, you would probably be better served by bumping your original thread, rather than posting the above in this one.

Freefly,

I had noticed the "craziness" thats for sure. I see your point now about divulging tells. Like I said, I am a total neophyte. I hope I havent offended anyone, that was not my intention.

I saw your reply to my post and will comment on it, but in the OP

I thought that guy was a bit odd but I had no idea of a connection.

That was him. My spidey sense kinda peaked a little but not enough to make me call someone out with the limited amount of knowledge I have. The watchmaker part kinda made me question myself as well.

I think he was just trying to build a name for himself in the vintage part of the forum so that he could eventually pull his Ebay shenanigans over here once everyone trusted him.

Why is the listing still up? I've reported it 3 times. Anyone else report it?

Wow.

Had a feeling that guy was going to get banned. Did not see all the extra drama coming.

So he's not the real fakewatchbusta from instagram. Just a poser trying to use the name.

Couldn't be the real guy considering that the real fakewatchbusta has posted about DavidSW on his instragram. So any online threats to "expose" the trusted sellers has to be the imposter just throwing a tantrum.

i don't think you gave away anything as even the most minute differences between the real and clone 3135's are common knowledge and discussed on many sites. other small differences he seemed to focus on with vintage dials, cases and other topics have also been discussed in depth elsewhere as well. the info is out there if someone is looking for it so it's very doubtful his motive was to find new info here.

anyone who spews as much hysterical drama always sets off red flags in my head. i think the guy was just testing the waters to see what people here know, along with trying to cast doubt on pretty much any popular collector/dealer/seller that happened to be the topic of discussion. the more controversy on the forum over the smallest details on opponents' watches the more likely his own sh$t may fly under the radar.
