It's not very clear what you're asking. Can you rephrase your question?

I read it a few times and did not really understand the question as well.

Let me take a stab at it. I think he's saying he either he has $400,000 to spend on starting a watch collection, or he has $150,000 every year to spend on timepieces. Not sure though.

In any event, hell of a first post. Welcome to the forum!

I think he's set on buying the 5711p 40th Anniv.
and is asking what other Patel timepieces are worthy to
start building a collection along with the 5711p 40th...
budget $150K a year ... Not sure what 400ke means ...
could be $400 K. ?

With that kind of budget, a 5270 fits quite nicely!

400K to start then 150K per year in watches is what he said, and he is asking if the 40th 5711P is a good investment, so I would say with 700 pieces being made they might sell a little over premium but something tells me they won't be an excellent investment, not bad but the best investment will still be the regular 5711P, made at way smaller production, and IMHO more desirable,

Take the 5711p and start the rest of the collection with a 5970p and 5070p.

Since he's in Monte Carlo, 400ke must mean Euro 400,000.

Spent a few hundred and buy some books
There a quite a few good patek books
Take your time and start reading and learning about patek and others

Read this and other forums

After months you'll know a bit and you can answer your own question
But please - if you have indeed that much money available- don't ask stupid questions

Even if you have that money to spend, make sure you know what you are talking about and don't just ask the audience

Are you really interested ??

sorry for my broken english, i'm based in europe and 400 Ke is 400 000 euro.
this is the budget i have now to dedicate on patek.
every year i can invest other 150 000 euro.
i have a good relationship with my AD and i prefer to buy current watches
i'm reading forum and other sources from few months and i will continue to do this, but i think there are nothing wrong to ask an advice to some expert.
Sometimes people ask my opinion on cars ecc and i never been arrogant ecc, i simply tried to give my best advice.
ciao ciao

Ask yourself what do I want to have? Go from there. You dont have that many choices if you only want current models. I would get a 5271p or a 5270r depending on your taste and then a 5370p. Didnt do the math.

Agree, I always find these sorts of posts odd initially, but need to consider the source of the 400k.

Hate to generalize, but someone who has earned/saved 400k of discretionary income through hard work is more often decisive, well-informed, and less likely to seek the counsel of anonymous strangers. There are however those who inherit wealth, win the lottery, marry well, or otherwise come into cash in a less traditional manner. In that situation it might not be so odd to ask such a question.

I would presume the OP inquiry legitimate until proved otherwise.

So much depends on your tastes. You like vintage? New? Chrono? Leather strap? Bracelet? Myself with 400k- 5270 for sure. 5905. 5524. At this point I don't know what I would spend the other 200k on let alone 150k a year on additional watches.

Are you stuck on Patek? I'd throw a Lange in there as well as an AP and Vacheron. First world problems.

Even though you have 400k I would start as any watch guy would.Dont deprive yourself watches much below test range like the simple 5711 and 5196. Also look at There brands and diversify

Far too odd for me!! 8 year excellent association with AD and gets a 5711P having never owned a PP and the AD can't be in Monte Carlo as there isn't one!! Then an annual budget. Think it won't be long!!!

Posts like this will not make anyone want to give you advice.

I can only assume it is not a serious question.

i've asked an advice, how i made my money doesn't matter.
i don't like questions like that, i have simply asked how to start a collection.
if anyone want to answer is welcome, if not i think i can survive...
