Am I crazy to think the Polar 216570 is...
...underwhelming? I'm probably the only one.
I wanted to pick up a new watch and take advantage of the sale David SW was having but i couldn't make up my mind between the white dial 216570 or a white or blue dial DJ II. I dont need a GMT function so that's why I went to look for a white dialed Rolex: DJII fit the bill. But after trying them on countless times, they all fell short a bit. I was so sure I wanted the 216570, but I kept finding it looks better in pics than on my wrist. So I decided on none of them cuz they just didn't do it. The white dial DJ II looked awkward to me too and the blue dial is amazing but I don't know. Rolex sports watches are more appealing to me so I decided to save up for the 116613 LB!!! Anyone else find the white dials to look great in pics but lackluster on the wrist? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Im a massive white dial fan.
I have the Polar Explorer, SS Daytona White dial and waiting on the new Ceramic White dial Daytona. They are striking in the sun, so easy to read and just brightens up everything. |

See that's the thing, when I see pics of them, wrist shots, etc... they're awesome! The white dial exp II was gonna be my last watch and last Rolex. But I just couldn't love the damn thing. But one look and try of the 116613 LB... it swayed my decision over to that. Maybe I have to try it on again, I'm Asian so maybe it doesn't work well with my complexion although I'm not that light... It's the worst maxi update IMO. Underwhelming isn't how I would describe it.

I agree completely,I tried on the 216570 polar 3 years ago and it officially became my least favorite Rolex. No disrespect to anyone but for me it does nothing. In pics definitely looks better. To me the dial is to big and looks empty.

This year I was in the same position, I was heading at the AD convinced I will leave with the 216570 on my wrist.
Strange thing happened, once I try it on my wrist all the shine and nice looks from the photos all over the internet kinda disappear, I wasn't convinced at all anymore I didn't take it and I was leaving with mix feelings, I still love it in the photos but I'm pretty sure it is not for me. Definitely I have to try the black one :)) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I prefer 16570 to me it's one of the best ever. I have been through many ceramic and pre ceramic and the 16570 is the one I will always keep in the collection. It's understated yes and that is part of why I love it. Explorer II doesn't draw any attention maybe that's why you think it is underwhelming, go with something you like.

Everyone has valid points. It's understated for sure, I know the one I chose to save for kinda screams "look at me!" And probably doesn't convince anyone that I'm NOT looking for the attention. In fact I wanted the 216570 for that reason too, but it just doesn't look right on me. I don't want to draw any attention to myself, but I guess the LB I chose doesn't accomplish that in any way or form!!! I want to want it but as stated above... I shouldn't convince myself to like it. Love it. Just hate the size of the case. Make it in 40mm and I'd have one on my wrist in no time.
I don't like the older 16570

I agree, but I am bias as I think polar 16570 is one of the prettiest watches Rolex ever made...

I bought a white dial 216570 about a year ago and went back-and-forth with it wondering if I should have purchased the 16570 instead. Over the course of the past 12 months I've added a few watches to the rotation and to my surprise, find that I wear the 216570 more than any other, hands down. This has grown to become my favorite watch. Didn't expect it, but that's what happened. I think it's understated and is just the perfect sports watch. To each his or her own, and I'm glad there's a wide variety of watches out there...but in my opinion, the 216570, white dial, is a fantastic watch.

I just picked my 216570 up today but in the black dial. I liked the white dial initially but that that the markers and dial blended in too much. Went for the black instead.

to me, the size and proportions of the 42mm case are perfect. I love the way it looks!

In a white dial, I like the DJII white dial fluted bezel! I'm a chronic flipper and I miss that watch. I had the Exp II 42mm.......don't miss it.

I can see what you mean. It is pretty polarizing for people who love it and hate it. I think it may be the bezel that throws things off. I love how flat it sits and the look of the case and the bracelet together is really nice. The refrigerator dial throws me off a hit until that lume hit in a right light. Pretty dang cool!

I like the white dial, I just don't like the larger 42mm case, it's way blocky IMHO

Everything about the dial and hands are too much. It's like they went maxi times two to account for the extra dial area. I do like the orange hand (color not shape).

Same like me, every time I see pics of Rolex with PCL it looks great but when I tried it on I found out it wasn't for me.

The glossy hands are something that don't always show in pics but really jump out in real life. That was what put me off when I tried one.

No...not crazy...or the only one, for that matter.
I used to be all about the white dials. Over the years, I've had a polar, the same DJ2 you've been looking at, a YM2, and a white Daytona. Nowadays, I find myself more into the black version of the EXP2 and the only the white dial hanging around is the Daytona. I guess I do like the white dial, just only in smaller doses than I originally thought. |

Nope
Bought my first one, then traded to a grail...Mistakenly and repurchased. I forgot how special the white dial is!
Wont go anywhere anytime soon. Nice to be a redheaded stepchild compared to all the subs and Datejusts.... |
