Watch shopping

Im looking for a new watch, i love the classic chrono look. Im looking at

Swiss Army, Sinn, Hannhart. Swiss Army is cheaper and imho they look pretty

good too. Im also a firm beliver that you get what you pay for, on the other

hand more expencive is not always better. Can some of you experts shed

some light on this, or other brands. I really didnt want to go over a $1000.00

because this will be something that i will wear at work. Im in the oil business

i drill oil and gas wells in the Gulf of Mexico, so its gotta be pretty tuff. I dont

get dirty (im an engineer) but out here you never know.

Thanks for your time and advice

You could try a Hamilton. I had one for a few years and beat the snot out of it and it took everything I threw at it.
If you want a great watch for the money, and is tough as nails, you also could try a Seiko Black Monster. It's not a chrono, but is a great value.

I thought this was a pretty nice piece for the price, I think the Sinn is not what i need for out here as much as i like that style. This is 650.00, free 2 day air shipping, from Princeton watches.
Any thoughts on this brand ?

Luminox ultimate Field

A TANK
This makes a SeaDweller seem fragile (Anthema I know) JJ will bite me.
It is however 12 year quartz
and you can read by the luminosity

I Have a nice Swiss Army.
It is OK for the garage.
It is not in any dimension a good field watch
They are not robust

If you are going to use it in the field make sure you have a screw down crown!!

I would recommend a omega speedmaster professionla moon watch.. you can pick them uop for around $1000 in used condition. It passed all of NASA's very stringent tests.. including being thrown out of a 4th story window and survived. There is no tougher chrono out there and a timeless classic.
find out more about this watch at my friends jean michesl website.

Try http://jewelry.search.ebay.com/omega...ZR8QQsacatZ281

There are a number of Omega Speedies there, at least one of which you might be able to pick up at your price point. There's a But it Now one for slightly more but still > $1100. You can't go wrong with a Speedmaster for tough wear.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I looked at the Omega. Thats a possibility.
The Lumniox style doesnt do it for me. Nobody as an opinion of the Swiss Army? They actually have a very large selection.

Mrdi

I guess i should explain. I have a GMT Master, i quit wearing it out here when i

watched a co worker lose his Submariner overboard in in 3000' of water it was

very ugly. I have been wearing G shocks and Pathfinders for the last 8

years, i have a drawer full of em with dead batterys. Now that being said,

you dont want to wear something high end or rare out here. So spending

$650 for a Swiss Army is going to be about my limit, after doing further

reasearch. If i could find something in the classic chrono style in that price

range then i would look into that also. Thanks for all your help it is

apperciated.

Nice site Mamas..... Was the 4th storey window an actual NASA test?

I like the new X3 but they appear to be a little overpriced for a quartz watch.
