Post-1984 5513
I know that this is more of a transitional model than properly vintage for some, but please indulge me. Does the Submariner below seem like a decent example of the post-1984 iteration of 5513 (with WG surrounds, "warts and all")?
Thank you for all your help! |

The first pic and the second set of 3 pics are different watches, no?

Two different posters asking about different watches.
Need better photos but both look OK. I prefer the second one. The first one appears to have uneven tritium patina dial vs. hands, but it could be the lighting. Tough to tell about the cases without better shots. If I'm looking for a 5513, I'd want a matte dial. If the wg surrounds don't bother you, why not get an early tritium 14060 and save some money? I get that it's acrylic vs. sapphire, but you'd have to decide how much that difference is worth, because otherwise the watches are visually very similar. |

Ah, ok - confusing. I'd say the one you posted looks pretty good. Would need close up pics to be sure though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How about this one? It seems a little overpolished to my untrained eye. And it is just the head. What kind of movement should expect to see in this mid-'80s transitional model? I was also told that the hands were a replacement; is it just me, or do they look like some sort of aftermarket monstrosity rather than Rolex service replacement? I would probably walk away, if that were the case. . .
There are, however, a couple of attractive things about it. Starting with the fact that I may be able to get a very good price on it! What would be a fair price for it (not to flip, but to wear)? |
