I dont think its worth it. I would spend the money on a more special piece like a 5077P. Did you find one yet?

Quite a thread bump from 2013! Khalid certainly has an extensive Patek watch collection and he certainly deserved the 5711/1P. I am sure he has several 5077's in his collection as well.

You don't think it's worth it 🙈? It's only worth at least double if not triple MSRP of back then!

I thought the thread was about the 40th anniversary pieces. Didnt look at the thread date. I still think money can be spent better. Like for a 5077P

I think it is one of those few pieces that if discontinued at an appropriate time I think it will really go up in value. One of the first reasons is because 95% of people that would want it will say I am going to save 72k and get it in SS. I have a feeling very few will be sold and I think might become a hot and rare watch some day

David was spot on!

Thanks buddy!
Even these 40th Ann. 5711p are crushing retail prices on the secondary.

Worth it is your call. In my opinion, it is worth it. I like the weight of it and especially the look!

If you have the money I would do it. I love the weight of platinum, and the deep blue. Platinum watches are not about status as the majority of humans will not know what you are wearing. But it will be special to YOU. If that is enough, then buy it.

On a broader note, as I got older, I really decided to value quality over quantity in all luxury goods. A few of the highest quality is what makes me happy. After all you can't take them with you when you die.

I agree with John; as we get older we are more aware of what makes us happy and care less about what others think of those choices.

700 pcs makes the regular 5711 seems like a honda accord in comparison. Rarity begeta value over time. Im trying to secure an allotment myself. That blue and the brightness of platinum is something else entirely

This one is not an anniversary 5711
It's rarer because a lot less than 700 pieces

Not as high as I would have thought. I wouldn't sell mine for $176K USD. I'd want at least $250K+.

Where can I find high-res photos of this watch? I don't care for the 40th anniversary. This watch is the one.

If you can get the hands on one at retail price go for it. In flesh feels so special.

Search posts by "Chasseur"

John has one of the original 5711P
That said I would be more than happy with either

No. I enquired about one in February (unworn) from dealer in Sweden which then sold for 220,000 euro.

That's absurd. It's not worth half that mount.

If you don't think it's worth half that you may struggle to buy one. I doubt you will find them at $116000.
