New Daytona takes a trip to the track

After 7 month wait I received my new Daytona from Meierotto Jewelers in Kansas City. Attended a HPDE driving event where I instruct and gave the watch it's first ride.

Cool! I love Meierotto, that place is like Disneyland.

Congrats and hello from OP! I'd imagine there's only a handful of us 500' owners in the KC metro.

Nice first post there David. That there's one of them Z Corvettes, huh? Great track car.

I used to do a lot of instructing at HPDE, but a few hits into the various walls (and a visit to the ER) cured me of all that. Now I just drive around with a poseur track sticker on the back of my car.

I've heard (disappointingly) that the new Z's aren't great track cars because they overheat after about 8 minutes of hard driving.

I have an acquaintance who got rid of his after a few track events supposedly for that reason.

RE Daytona and overheatiing Z06's

Glad to be a part of the forum. Have been monitoring it for years having owned a few Rolex watches. RE gent who commented on potential Z06 overheating, that applies to the Z with auto tranny. Mine is the 7 speed manual. I have never had an issue and I drive aggressively. The car outperforms nearly every car on the track. Pretty easy to drive fast, but tricky to drive flat out! Not as expensive as some of the competition but that leaves more budget for watches and tires!
