My Milgauss broke, would it in covered under warranty?

Hello TRFers,

Today when I got my Milgauss 116400GV out of the watch box, pull the crown out to wind the watch, I notice that there was a problem. The watch was not winding, it did not go to the first position when the watch is unscrewed instead it goes straight to the second position of hacking.

I have 2 questions for you guys.

1) Will this be covered under the Rolex warranty?

2) How do you send a watch to Rolex? Can you do so by going to a AD?

Any help would be appreciated

Is it still within the warranty period and do you have the warranty card? If yes than contact RSC and they'll send you the appropriate packaging to ship it. And also yes that an AD can send it in for you but unless you purchased from them they'll likely charge your for the shipping.

1) no. you bought this watch and the warranty is over (you did not provide a date)
2) you call rolex and tell them what's up and they'll send you a shipping box where you can deal with this yourself.

Did you pull the stem all the way out fully to the hand-set positon, then gently press it back one position?

If it is within the warranty period, and this is a malfunction not brought about by damage, it would likely be covered by warranty.

Of course, if it is beyond the warranty period, then no, it would not be covered.

My thought/question as well.

The watch was bought early 2017, when I unscrew the watch, it immediately hacks and when I try to push back one position, it hacks the hour and minute hand but not the second hand.

Did you buy it from an AD? Did you buy it from someone who got it from an AD?

As long as it isn't from a grey, I think this should be covered as long as there is no noticeable physical damage.

I had Brown & Co send mine and they were great throughout the whole process.
Note: mine was not purchased there nor was in warranty yet I was treated professionally by their knowledgeable service team

We must be talking a different language....

In the winding position, the seconds hand continues to tick away happily and so it sounds like it is working exactly as it is supposed to when you "push it back one position".

"Hacking" is when you pull the stem out to the hand setting position and the seconds hand stops, or "hacks" - it doesn't refer to any other hands.

Thanks for the correction, so the problem is that I can't to get the winding position. I've tried many times pushing and pulling the crown.

Do you have a named and dated warranty card from the AD who sold it to DSW?

Does the warranty card have your name on it? I am sure that makes things easier but I think as long as the watch has warranty left, I don't see an issue.

I'd assume it has a warranty then, was it noted in the advertisment - if he does mention it, then I'd say with almost 100% certainty it is accurate...

Good article on Rolex warranties. Follows the watch, supposedly this information came direct from the manufacturer, so if it has a 5 year warranty and you have the card, you should be good:

This guy techhie tiger in the comments section looks like he has an axe to grind

i would ship to the Dallas RCS. New York is not highly recommend on this forum. They are not always easy to deal with. I haven't heard of any poor experiences with Dallas. I have dealt with both and Dallas is without a doubt far superior in customer relations.

Good luck!

If the crown is unscrewed, the seconds hand is ticking, and the hour and minute hands don't turn when you turn the crown, it's working correctly. That is the winding position.

The warranty question is anyone's guess unless you can provide more info about when it was first sold by an AD. If it was sold by an AD 7 years ago and sat in someone's safe until a dealer bought it and sold it to you then it may be out of warranty.

When you bought it, how much warranty were you told was left?
