Royal Oak refinishing/polishing
Hey all! I am new to the forum so this will be my first post. I have two Audemars Piguet watches, a steel royal oak offshore and a rose gold royal oak chronograph. I recently had a complete service conducted on my offshore and it took a total of 5.5 weeks from drop off at the boutique to my doorstep. I am planning on having my royal oak chronograph dropped off at the NYC boutique for only a polish (not complete service) in the near future. Does anyone know how long it takes for AP to just do a polish?

Probably at least 3-4 weeks.

Welcome to the forum!
It depends on their work load but I agree it should not take more than 1 month. You can also contact APSC in Clearwater directly APNA.ClientCare@audemarspiguet.com to cut out the extra time it might spend at the AD.

In case you are not aware, be careful with too many polishes. AP themselves say after about 3-5 polishes the lines of the case cannot be preserved as too much material has been removed. Nothing wrong with a polish, but considering you are not in need of a service Im guessing the interval you are selecting for polishing is not sustainable long term.
From AP: "However, we recommend no more than three to five aesthetic refreshings during the life cycle of your watch. Any more than this will run the risk of damaging the angles and geometry of the case." |

Maybe a polishing is needed once a watch gets to this condition..

Panda needs some TLC before it becomes extinct.

I was told by AP clearwater - 4 polishes during life of watch...I was surprised to hear it applies to platinum

A local guy's 44 RG Summer Edition looked like that after a single summer. Some people just wear without any care at all, and big thick watches like the ROO with angular bezel can look like that very fast if you have no wrist awareness.

I suppose the last resort is a new case for your watch?
I wonder how common this is. I know Rolex issues new cases with replacement serial #s. Does AP do the same? |
