Icon13 Would you buy now?

Hi all,

I've been scouting around for a ss Rolex for months now and are hopeful as I travel around the UK every week so meeting new Ads all the time.

My question? If I came across one now would you buy this close to basel? Wondering if I should take my foot off the gas for a while or redouble my efforts in case of price increases.

Interested in other members thoughts at the mo?

Anything being released at Basel will hit the “shelves” at least 8 months from now. Also, if you look at the thread about the teaser (coke gmt) looks like no new sub or gmt (form factor, maybe new movement who knows). Get it now.

if you can find anything in the UK that you like, you buy now. Basel releases are going to be next to impossible without an strong and established AD relationship so being able to get one of those is not going to happen anytime soon, sorry to say.

i would wait after baselworld, thinking that the shortage of ss
sports model supply will ease off after that.

Purchase it now while you can, as mentioned above even with the new releases it will take a while to be available. People are still waiting to get their hands on the Basel 2017 releases. If you see something you like purchase it. Especially if you can get it at a retail price.

Hhmm let me think?

There's a shortage of SS sport models but I can get my hands on one today but will wait until it gets easier to get one.

Sounds logical?

Actually last year it was much faster; received my Sky D in August which was about five months for the slowly released model. As far as the SD43, I believe it was more like a couple of months (actually it was under two months)!!!

Good question.
I've left a list of 4 watches that I want with my AD. It's been almost 6 months.

I wondered what I would do if I got a call before Basel. Wait for a new release or jump at any of these watches?

Well yesterday I got the call! Incoming next week, it took me about 0.7 seconds to say yes. I'm embarrassed that it took me so long!

In the face of SS shortages, ridiculous grey market prices, an offer from an AD at MSRP .... I feel lucky on St Pat's day too 🤣

If there is a watch that you want and you can find it at msrp I would buy it and enjoy. Any new releases will take awhile to arrive and you can enjoy your watch and wait.

Being so difficult to find anything in the UK I would buy, so long as it’s something you want.

I did! Last week I bought a NIB 116622 for 10% off. Admittedly not the most difficult to get reference, not the deepest discount but not the easiest in it's configuration either. Its' what I wanted! In this toxic environment you have to buy em when and where you find em.
In addition I don't relish the just announced models unless it's an existing case and movement with just a cosmetic difference. For what they cost I'm more than willing to let someone else test the waters. It is true that Rolex rarely has difficulty but it can happen .

Yup sign of the times just 10% on that in the US, and same as no discount on the popular SS, if you can find one.

Supply doesn't change this year Rolex have already indicated.

Go ahead and buy if there is a particular watch you are travelling all over the country to find. You obviously love it.

If you think there is something that might be announced that you would want more than what is available now, then wait 3 days and find out. 72 hours.

I’d buy now! If discontinued you get appreciation and if not and prices increase, youbut at the lower prices!

Buy now given the chance rather than wait and regret not getting it at the first opportunity. Goodluck on your hunt.
